playoff seeding question (1 Viewer)

we have a commissioner who insists on matching the #1 seed with the #3/#6 winner and the #2 seed with the #4/#5 winner...he says that is the way they do it in the "vegas leagues", are there leagues like this? is he full of crap?...this does not mirror the leagues at Yahoo where the 1 plays the 4/5 winner and the 2 plays the 3/6 winner...our league has always been like the NFL, where the highest seed plays the lowest remaining seed

Pretty sure he's asking about reseeding vs not doing so, not questioning the bye. My leagues do not reseed but I wish they did.

8 teams or 4 teams in the playoffs, either way we do a standard bracket with 1 playing 4, 2 playing 7, etc. etc.

No one's ever even questioned or suggested doing it a different way.......

The number 1 seed should always play the lowest seed left after the first round of the playoffs if they have a bye. Problem is that the higher seeded team may not be as good as the lower seeded teams. A lot of times the weakest division winner is not as strong as the wild card teams. I am almost to the point of letting the #1 team pick his second round opponent. I run two leagues and may put that up for a rule change next year. I mean to me winning the regular season (13 weeks) is harder then winning a 2-3 week playoff and if you are the regular season champ you should get a big advantage.

ANY THOUGHTS ON THAT?

I like the idea....The choice process would add to the drama IMO.
