I play in a 10 team IDP league. I am fairly new to IDP. We start any combination of 6 DL/LB and 2 DB's. Scoring system is as follows:

1 pt per tackle/assist and pass deflected

5 pts per fumble recovery

10 pts. per INT/FF/Sack/TD scored

My DL/LB:

Jason Taylor

Julius Peppers

Aaron Schobel

Charles Grant

Erasmas James

Will Witherspoon

Clark Haagans

Kawika Mitchell

Teddy Bruschi

DB:

Nate Clements

Chris Gamble

Dunta Robinson

My question is are these DL/LB's good enough for this season. I have a very strong offense and am just looking to score about average on defense. The only defensive players worth mentioning that are free agents are Daryl Smith, Shaun Phillips, and Eric Barton. I feel that the drop off is really big after these three. Are any of these guys better options that what I already have? Thanks

Brad

Edited because I can't spell.

Those s/b plenty good and in a 10 team league, the waiver wire will always have bye week help. Erasmus James and Charles Grant are riskier picks that the 3 LBs you mentioned, so you could replace either of them. If I played in a 10 team yahoo league, I'd just go with the minimum number of D starters and use all my bench spots on O. You can always get a sufficient player off the waiver wire with those numbers.

I wouldn't cut anybody with a shot at 10 sacks this season in that setup. I certainly wouldn't dump Grant or James unless they prove useless. 10x tackle per sack/INT is about as big play heavy as I've seen.

Shaun Phillips might be a better option than Bruschi or Haggans. Hell in that scoring system he will be a better option that Witherspoon if he reaches ten sacks. A sack with a FF is 21 points. That's close to three weeks worth of work for many second tier linebackers.
