Every year it's the same with the overreaction after week 1. I think it takes a good 3-4 weeks to get into what we expect to see for the year.

Does anyone know how to find the Week 1 performances from 2009, 2008, etc?

They are always enlightening. I bet they'll save some serious worrying (and maybe some foolish trades/drops).

2009

Trent Edwards - 24 points

Brodie Croyle - 20

Julius Jones - 19

Ben Watson - 19

Derrick Ward - 14

Mark Clayton - 14

Louis Murphy - 14

Brandon Stokley - 14

Robert Royal - 12

2008

Willie Parker - 31

Chad Pennington - 22

Eddie Royal - 21

JaMarcus Russell - 19

Hank Baskett - 16

Jerious Norwood - 15

Mark Clayton - 12

Michael Jenkins - 12

Donte Rosario - 15

Sammy Morris - 14

Anthony Fasano - 14

Love how Mark Clayton's name keeps showing up every year.

And here is on my waiver lookout again after his 16 targets yesterday.

I would argue that Eddie Royal's burst in 2008 wasn't a one-week wonder oddity. Didn't he put together a decent season in Cutler's final year in Denver?

Yes, Royal was solid that year. But no one knew he would be after that one game. Last year he fell off a cliff. This year he had a solid week one again. Who knows what to make of him at this point . . .

Also, that year Marshall was suspended for Week 1, so Cutler and his tunnel vision locked in on Royal. He still ended up with a fine year, especially for a rookie, but I think we could temper expectations because Marshall would be back soon.

Some excerpts from the above post from 'post-week 1 2009': Just saying...

Byron Leftwich is available in a lot of leagues

Brodie Croyle is worth a flier in deep leagues

Cadillac available in a TON of leagues

Chansi Stuckey deserves some decent sized FA bids

Devery Henderson and Robert Meachem are available in a lot of shallow leagues

Michael Clayton looked solid (and made some great catches in traffic)

Jeremy Shockey is available in a lot of 10-team leagues, particularly Yahoo and ESPN public leagues

Todd Heap available in plenty of leagues

Bids for Vick will be plentiful

From what I saw of Garcon in the preseason he drops too many passes and Manning won't put up with that if it continues

Robert Royal, CLE TE. Quinn was looking for him ALL DAY, ended with 4/60 and 1 TD.

Kenny Britt, lest we forgitt.

P. Crayton and M. Clayton especially with injury to Bryant

Davone Bess – 57 yards, 7 receptions

Andre Caldwell – 54 yards, 6 receptions

Devery Henderson – 103 yards, 5 receptions, 1 touchdown

Jeremy Shockey – 31 yards, 4 receptions, 2 touchdowns

Mike Bell – 143 yards on 28 carries

Patrick Crayton – 135 yards, 4 receptions, 1 touchdown

Michael Clayton – 93 yards, 5 receptions

Carnell Williams – 97 yards on 13 carries, 1 touchdown

Pierre Garcon – 24 yards, 3 receptions

Mark Clayton – 77 yards, 5 receptions, 1 touchdown

Kenny Britt, 85 yards, 4 receptions

i grabbed Mike Bell today, and want Cadillac.

Laurent Robinson... pushing for the #1 in STL.

Nate Burleson, he was targeted all day by Hasselbeck

Justin Gage also targeted all game

2004 - Quentin Griffin - 23 carries 156 yards 3 TD
To be fair, didn't he get hurt in week 2 or 3?
That's the point of this thread. It's early. There are guys to snap up, but don't go overboard.Or, go overboard and I'll pickup the guys you drop.
That was my point, though. It wasn't like he slacked off in production, he got hurt. Granted, he wouldn't have produced 156 yds and 3 TD's every week after that week but he very well could have been a top 10 back if he was healthy.Predicting poor production and predicting injury aren't the same thing.
