All,

I've been a fbg for quite some time. I need a little help.

My sister has a rare form of cancer and needs a life-saving operation. Please sign this petition and help her fight her insurance company, who, unfortunately, is acting like an insurance company.

If you want to sign and/or pass it along, please do. If not, no worries.

Done - what insurance company? If its Aetna I would like to have "friends of the family" make their executives go away and see how they like it.

Fick signing a petition. Give us more detail. This forum has a lot of benefactors, lawyers, and motivated drinks like me and homer to get #### done.

Tldr: screw a petition they can ignore. Tell us how to help. Really.

Done (with the reason that circumstances arise where the need for compassion is more important than enforcement of policy).

Good luck to her.

Done...

Your sister has over a 1,000 signatures, and the giraffe that is going to die has over 11,000. Disgusting and people should be ashamed of themselves.

Done. Just curious, it says "290 needed". What happens when it hits that number?
Nothing in particular. It just has benchmarks that makes thing seem a little easier. It ends when the insurance company does it should.Appreciate everyone signing. My inbox is blowing up with responses. And my wife thought I was wasting time here over the years...

Seriously / this board does amazing things.

Done. Believe me I know you feel. My brother has cancer and is about to have an operation and we struggled with insurance. Best of luck.

Jesus Christ I hate insurance companies.

I'm sorry this is happening. Please let us all know if there is something more we can do to help.

Honest opinion (from someone who hates insurance companies)

I thought I had happy news to share with you a little while ago, but that has changed into something even more negative.

We thought we had a deal; they agreed to send the paperwork over.

Then something disgusting happened.

They backed out on the verbal agreement because they didn't agree with the cost.
They wanted to pay what would amount to a few thousand dollars. This statement tells me a few things:

1. They agree that I need this treatment medically.
2. They have placed a very low price on my life.

I am disgusted. I do not feel valued as an employee. Rather than helping me obtain flights to get to Washington D.C. they are trying to argue.
Over money.

Keep pushing. We will win over their greed.
This message might derail the effort. Flights? If they are welshing (hi MC) on surgery costs than blast them, if the issue here is not covering the cost to travel to the doctor who can perform the surgery than things get a little more gray. If it's more of the former and less of the latter, than have your sister edit that statement and don't muddy the waters to what sounds like a bad situation.

And to add, if it comes down to travel costs, put up a kickstarter or something and post it here. I'll be your first 100

Done, #1323.

As Drifter mentioned above, there are sites like giveforward.com and others that provide a way to raise money using the power of social media and sites like the FFA. Yes big companies often disappoint but it amazing what individual people are willing and able to do in order to help their friends and strangers when called upon.

Your sister sounds like a fighter and she has a lot of support, she will find a way. Thanks for sharing this and best wishes for her and your family.
