Pledge of Allegiance in Arabic = Angry Rubes (1 Viewer)

So are we just skipping all the intermediary steps to getting people to hate America now? Even if you want to like us, you'd damned well better not do it unless you can do it in english?

A school in upstate New York has apologized for reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in Arabic after getting complaints from district residents who lost family members in the war in Afghanistan.
They don't speak Arabic in Afghanistan.

The district said the school’s foreign language department arranged to have the pledge recited in different languages for National Foreign Language Week, which was last week.

Andrew Zink, the senior class president, usually gives the morning announcements and recites the pledge. He said he allowed an Arabic-speaking student to handle the pledge duties Wednesday.

“The intention was to promote the fact that those who speak a language other than English still pledge to salute this great country,” the district said in its statement.

“Had it been done in Spanish first or Japanese first, we wouldn’t be having this conversation today,” Principal Aaron Hopmayer told Young.

When we say "one nation under God" in our public institutions, it's well-known that God is God, not Allah.

Watched that poor guy get interviewed by some idiot local TV reporter this morning. "Why were they reading the pledge in Arabic?" "Who thought this was a good idea?" smdh

@birthersaredumb We speak English here - it is the Official Language of the USA. Get used to it.

:lmao:

Not sure what to think until I get the "bombshell" email that tells me the Duck Dynasty guys are outraged and that this is the doings of Obama, Valarie Jarrett and that Muslim lady that works for Hillary

As stupid as this is, I still don't think it tops the idiots who got all outraged at Coke for that Super Bowl commercial they sang the national anthem in the "terrorist language" of Spanish.

Missouri HB 499 which would require all public schools to recite the Pledge of Allegiance at least once per day has adopted an amendment to the bill which specifies that it be recited in the English language

And in related news, Neil deGrasse Tyson has been taking some heat for his "truthful"pledge

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the Divided States of America. And to the PACs, for which it stands, one Nation, at odds, divisible, with Liberty and Justice for some.

So burn the flag if you must, but before you do, you better burn a few other things! You better burn your shirt and your pants! Be sure to burn your TV and car! Oh yes, and don't forget to burn your house! Because none of those things could exist without six white stripes, seven red stripes, and a hell of a lot of stars!

Seriously, if you're going to do something special to acknowledge a themed week, start doing it on Monday, not Wednesday.

I'd think this is a win. We used your language to have you pledge allegiance to our country. You will be assimilated.
