Pluribus TV show discussion thread (3 Viewers)

I got a 3 month free trial from Apple that timed out just right for this show. I've watched the first two episodes and really enjoyed them. This is gonna be a good one.

That was as good of a first episode of anything I've ever seen. Holy smokes. Actually has me worried that rest of the show can't possibly be as good as this setup.

Man, oh, man.

Guess we are somehow logged in under my son's account, watched the first couple episodes, lot to say but also want others to have a chance to watch the first episode and two and share their experiences. Feels like they are shadowing society mostly and a lot of the dialogue could be relevant to things happening right now around us

Hard to explain the show but once you watch you'll catch on quickly. Not sure if it will be a hit or not, overwhelming positive reviews from almost everyone who gets paid to watch these shows
I would encourage people to at least give the first couple episodes a try and then decide if it's for you

-7 day free trial available, would assume this show is included as I'm sure they want as many people to watch it as possible and get them hooked

Incredible start. I love how fast paced it is. Best pilot I've seen in a long time.

Gilligan says 3 seasons but he acknowledged he originally said that about Breaking Bad and it went longer.

With such a higher budget I am scared of networks being networks and them ending up cancelling this one. I will riot.

Nah, he had a bidding war for this show and chose Apple because they gave him the money needed and the time he wants to make it. You can settle in for this one.

Great first show. Second episode was solid. NIce mix of dark humor and action with a remix on a classic premise. Hopefully it avoids getting all political and preachy as long as Gilligan is the showrunner.

I was late to the party on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, but I watched the first two episodes of this show the day after they dropped. Thought it would be difficult to live up to the hype....but it did!

My wife hates sci-fi but loves this show so thank you Mr. Gilligan.
This is scifi? I've avoided almost all info on it before we start it.
For sure. Not a typical one though, or not so far at least
Gotta disagree here. Gilligan said the goal was to “hit every trope and touchstone that the sci-fi movie world presents to us.” He specifically referenced Invasion of the Body Snatchers, which is what the show's premise is loosely based on. He also said they plan on taking on all of the classic sci-fi tropes and putting their own spin on them.

Through 2 episodes it is not a typical sci-fi show, IMO. I hadn't read anything about it

After two episodes it seemed to me like a modernized remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, with one significant twist.

Yea I just think of typical sci-fi as battlestar galactica and star trek and **** like that. Maybe I have too narrow a definition though

Watched the Pilot. While it was great, I'm not a SciFi guy and not sure this is my cup of tea.
That being said, I fully plan on watching episode two.

I know this isn't in the same universe and all, but with it being set in Albuquerque, I hope we get some kind of easter egg like Jesse Pinkman in the background yelling "We just want to make you happy, *****!"

I did, too. Heard about it in this thread and didn't look up anything about it before telling my wife we had to watch this new show I heard great things about. Like foxco's, my wife hates sci-fi. I ended up feeling the need to apologize after the first episode for "making" her watch it. "That's ok, but I'm not watching more of that crap."

Oh well, guess it's on the rotation for the things to watch when the wife isn't around...

My wife said the same thing. She was not a fan

Only watched the first episode, and at first it felt like it was going to be another zombie show. But by the end all I was thinking was Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Tangent but aren't most of the best shows on TV right now/recently sci-fi?

Severance, Silo, Foundation, For All Mankind, Fallout, The Last of Us, Andor, etc... I guess the argument on the other side is Hacks, Ted Lasso, The Bear, The White Lotus, Slow Horses, Only Murders in the Building, etc... but almost all of those seem to be diminishing as they go. (and I know there are mainstream shows like Abbott Elementary, St. Denis Medical, High Potential, etc.. as well)

I guess I'm curious what the never sci-fi people are watching these days but maybe I should take it to the Netflix thread.
