Poll: Should Marino or Goodell be in attendance (1 Viewer)

In another thread somebody compared Favre breaking Marino's TD passes record to Barry Bonds breaking Aaron's HR record. Considering the controversy over whether Selig or Aaron should have been there, should either Marino or Goodell or both be in attendence when Favre breaks the TD record?

I'd think Goodell should be there... not sure if he will be.

As for Marino... I get the feeling he doesn't like watching his records being broken. Maybe it's just me though. I seem to remember him being kinda salty when Manning broke his single season TD record.

Sorry, can't seem to figure out how to set this up as a poll.

Understandable that Marino won't be there because he'll be working. Though I did find it interesting that when they did a recap of the game that Marino commented on tying the record but never congratulated Favre.

I've never liked seeing the old star go to game after game to watch his lifetime achievement get beaten. It's kind of sad. But that's what makes it classy.

Marino has not been classy after his career. He wasn't congratulatory of Manning when he broke the TD record, he flipped out on Boomer for referring to Manning as the Marino of this generation, and he didn't congratulate Favre today. I don't really blame him, but I haven't gained a lot of respect for him since he retired.

I think Goodell should be there. It's a significant achievement by one of the greatest and classiest players of all time. Maybe Peyton Manning will break some of these career records that Marino set and Favre is breaking, but otherwise I don't see it happening anytime soon. The commissioner should be there for the most significant ones at least. I don't necessarily think Marino should be there, though, especially if he has prior obligations.

How did he flip out on Boomer? I missed that one, but would have loved to see it.

:whoosh: He's changed a lot in this regard since his earlier days. I saw him play all the way back in high school, where he was not the typical self-centered star athlete (he was also an amazing pitcher - drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 4th round of the 1979 draft) and he never seemed to be as petty with respect to records when he was an active player in the NFL. I wonder if he would be more classy if he had won a SB.Unrelated to this thread, but the Royals drafted Marino in the 4th round and Elway in the 18th round that same year. LINK
