Portis and the impact on the #11 spot (12 teamer) (1 Viewer)

In many leagues the first 10 players off the board will be the top 10 RBs (assuming Portis is now ranked worse than Westbrook and Mcgahee):

1. LJ

2. LT

3. Alexander

4. Tiki

5. SJax

6. Brown

7. James

8. Jordan

9. Rudi

10. Caddy

It is widely agreed to go RB/WR at #11. Does Portis's injury change this? Do you choose:

1.11 Westbrook or Mcgahee

2.02 Smith/CJ/Holt

With Westbrooks injury concerns and Mcgahee's awful offense does WR/WR or WR/QB become a valid strategy?

Any RB left on the board after 10 picks has a question mark.

Choose the one that you feel has the most upside/least risk and run with it.

I think this is a great topic, because in many shark leagues, the first ten picks WILL be those RB. I've seen a lot of draft slot threads where people at 11 and 12 are talking about grabbing Rudi, Ronnie, etc -- with all of these injuries, those guys seem unlikely to be on the board.

Personally, I think Stud WR may be the way to go this year. Grab two of S.Smith/Holt/CJ, etc and hope to cause a WR run in the 2nd and third that leaves you with some decent options at the 3/4 turn. Portis would obviously be a possibility here if you can stomach the injury/Duckett situation, as would be Bush if you are drinking the Kool-Aid.

Great Topic

I traded down from 4 and obtained an extra 2nd rounder (giving up a 3rd). I now hold the 11, 14, & 21 picks in a 12 team redraft. I was planning RB,WR, RB (Cadillac, Johnson, McGahee) . Now, I'm not so sure. The Portis/Duckett situation is clouding the draft board even more than I thought it already was. Is Warrick Dunn going to be a forgotten player? How far up does he move? How far down does Portis move? Since my league doesn't award ppr, back-to-back RBs should probably be drafted at 11 & 14. I think???

I think big issue is that it pulls a top RB out of the first round, thus moving the later RBs up one spot. This trickle down effect is bigger for the 1.10 than we realize. The hope of getting Jackson or Brown at 1.10 just diminished by quite a bit.
