Post Draft Thoughts from a Draft Insider (1 Viewer)

Question, didn't football guys come out with a article showing that NE is one of the poorer teams drafting over the past 3 or 5 years with on of the lowest % of players on their rosters. I see in this interview again everyone praises NE again. "New England is by far the best at playing the draft. They have this thing down pat" I guess my questions is are they that poor and every just piles on the party wagon or do they really do a good job. Seems to me that they are not that good. They are great at getting older players that fit a system and will sign below to market price, but that is a different story.

One of the reasons they have such a low % of players drafted on their rosters is because eveyr year they stock up on picks and don't have enough roster space for all those picks, hence having the cut a number of them making it appear as if they have bad drafts - more than likely....not the case.

Just my opinion.

funny he mentioned that he thought KC had a good draft and mentioned some of the scouts which were then fired. Good stuff though Bloom.

This comment is practically spit-take worthy....

Maclin in Philly is a good one. He gives McNabb a new playtoy with good speed and big play ability. The Raiders were probably going to take Maclin had DHB gone before 7.
DHB gone BEFORE the raiders picked?!??!?!?  :D

What did Buchanan mean by Bellicheck laughing at Childress? I must have missed that comment somewhere.

"New England was right in there. They were right behind us [with the 23rd pick]," Childress said. "No, they didn't think we'd take him [because of off-the-field] issues. Remember, they have our receivers coach there now. So they thought they could hold ... and he'd come to them.

"They were down there working him out the day after I was there. And [Harvin] wasn't supposed to tell anybody, and I was trying to pull that out of him, who that was. So, it was a little cat-and-mouse game that occurred."

Don't like this, even though I know it's true about most Texas players being soft.

JB: Well one thing to look out for is that Texas defensive players are usually soft in the NFL because they don’t hit at Texas.  Most of them, except for Jammer, have not faired as well as projected.  I think Orakpo could be a bust and we know the Redskins draft history under Snyder.

It's poorly edited, but those two comments are mutually exclusive. (1) "KC had a good draft," and (2) [Jaguars GM] "Gene Smith is a great scout..."
