Post Season/ Playoff Drafts..... (1 Viewer)

We had our Playoff draft last Thursday night and once again it was a blast! I know we all play for the regular season......but doing an all vs all total scoring format for play-offs is awesome. What makes it so different and thought provoking is the team elimination factor! What is some of your opinions on this.......it's a more laid back and faster draft.....but the "crystal ball" has such a bigger role! We draft a standard line-up plus a 9th pick in the last rd. as a utility player from the RB, WR, TE positions. (used to include all positions but the guy who grabs the leftover Kicker by having the top pick in the last rd was usually at an advantage since we do basic scoring for this). :blackdot:

Have never done this, but would be interested in how everyone sets theirs up.

Not saying it is ......but if you have a good group, as we do, we have a great time with it. Did it on-line this season due to a member not being able to get out due to a serious surgery. Normally we tie it in with our "Awards" night, and we have a great time doing it. As I said before, it takes a different type of strategy, and it makes for some real "gambles". When they pan-out it is very re-warding! If you take several players from a "Wild-Card" team and they get the points for 4 games by going all the way you can turn the laughs you got at the draft into some cash! Some guy's go heavy on the team they think will run the table, some guys use a balanced approach......all ideas are good if they work! The best thing about it is that once you draft.....you have a set team, and there are no waivers or trades so it's "read em and weap or reap"! Sometimes a player has awesome points in a "one and out"......and he turns out to be more valuable then a Super Bowl player that played 3 games. I've drafted Fullbacks in the past because I liked their teams chances and they hadn't scored all season and get me 3-4 TD's(William Henderson of the Packers). Try it once and you will use it every season from then on out. Our guys really look forward to doing it, especially if they want re-demption after a sub-par regular season effort. This season I drafted mostly San Diego, but I also have a couple Bears and Saints so I am still waiting on my points for next week. I did end up with 3 Seahawks and lucked out with a win last night. I had 1st pick so of course I went L.T.

Just so you can see(not bragging) but here is my Line-up which is locked in for the duration and I get the accumulated totals scored, and the team with most total points wins etc.

QB...Matt Hasselbeck

RB...L. Tomlinson

RB...S. Alexander

WR...D. Branch

WR...J. Horn

TE....D. Clark

K.....N. Kaeding

"D"...San Diego

UTIL...C. Benson

******I like my chances, but the Vinatieri owner has Dillon, Brady, B. Watson and New England "D"......so if the Pats go all the way he gets 4 weeks of those guys stats!!!!

our rules are very similar to the ones that jeff uses in his playoff league (wish i had seen that and entered). the only meaningful difference is that we don't have a 3 player-per-team limit (one guy in the league has 8 iggles out of 10 spots!). our scoring rules are slightly different from wcoff.

i thought i drafted well (4th pick):

qb: mcnair

rb: alexander

rb: lewis

flex: dillon

wr: wayne

wr: horn

wr: v. jackson

te: heap

pk: vinatieri

def: san diego

we'll see how well i do.

the draft was done by e-mail, and it took 2 days to get it done with folks in the league doing things. we're all looking forward to it.

E-mail draft must have been tough......why not use a stat service? Then again......it was probably the way you wanted it. Enjoy....that's what it's all about!

Under 100 picks, probably didn't take too long, plus they may not have known about MFL / other sites to piece it together. As for my mock, I really threw it together on a whim Friday and 7 others were good sports enough to play along.I winged the setup, and 10x8 really was just about right. 3 per team was a good rule too.
