Post your 2011 Dynasty Start Up Draft (1 Viewer)

LeSean McCoy at first overall is shocking to me. I dont think there is a clear consensus number 1 overall and having the top pick is probably no better than having the 3rd pick, but for me it would have to be Charles, Johnson, or Peterson. If you required 3 WR then maybe Calvin Johnson, but that still seems like a reach at 1. If not for MJD's knee issues, he would be worth discussion also. If you are a true believer in Foster (which I am personally), then he could be considered too. McCoy seems like a fringe top 5 pick IMO.

IMO in that format with only 2 required WR, the following players would clearly be on my board ahead of McCoy:

AP

Chris Johnson

Foster

Jamal Charles

These players would be in the same category:

MJD

McFadden

Mendenhall

Rice

Calvin

Sorry - didnt mean to turn it into a McCoy discussion. I was just taken aback when I saw that he went first overall.

Man, Jones-Drew seems to be dropping into the 2nd round in all drafts so far.

Seems like a definite target to me. He is only 25 still.

I respect your opinion - it was not an easy pick. There is a case to be made for 5 guys being #1. But McCoy out PPG'd everyone on your list, except Foster, and was 22 when he did it. If I took out my human bias, Foster would have been the easy pick, but I don't want to hitch my wagon to a guy I am not 100% on. I love both CJ and Peterson, but didn't want my core to be going into the season at 27 years old, this time next year. I was able to swing a deal for another top 5 pick and grabbed Jamaal Charles, who I also really like. The two of them should serve me well.

I can see Shady living up to the pick but clearly does not warrant the value of that pick (e.g., take ADP or the other consensus guys and then trade down and pick up something extra and take Shady).

I got a great deal, ending up with the top 2 picks. Tried to trade down, but was only able to move down to #4. I took my two guys and am very happy with them. I am not worried at all about missing out on a couple bump ups in later rounds, risking missing out on him. I know that I am not the only one that values him top 5.

Yeah some really odd picks in these drafts but that always happens. Guys draft who they like and I do the same sometimes. The guy who drafted McCoy at 1 should have realized he could have traded down and stil drafted McCoy and got some added value (as in picks) out of it. Maybe the league owners didn't want to trade but you have to try at least.

Sorry, didn't see this.

Am I missing something on Jordy Nelson? 9th round, 10th round, 16th round (of a 14 teamer). Aren't there enough balls to go around in GB ala Peyton's Colts? Jordy seemed to really grasp the offense late in the season and capped it off with a tremendous showing on the biggest of stage.

#66 WR in FP last year and just 7 ppg, and that's with Finley out for most of the year and no Ryan Grant, still competing with James Jones, emergence of Starks added to the running game, plus FA after next year who knows if he'll still be there.

Turner drafter here, I can say I was much more surprised to get Desean Jackson at 3.10 than Turner at 5.10. I'm in a lot of leagues with different members of this league and Turner just doesn't have a lot of value to them in dynasty.

I thought Turner was 29, not 49. 5th round?
In a PPR league...12 receptions doesn't cut it.
How about 1400 yards and 12 TDs?Not saying he should be a 1st rounder in PPR, but 5th round? Lame...........
I don't get what is so lame about this. You realize this is a dynasty startup draft, right? I know there is a case for him to maybe be a late 3rd or 4th guy, but I don't blame anyone that wants the first 5 or 6 guys they draft to play for longer than 2-3 years.

Exactly - unless your definitely either drafting to win this year or plan to use him as trade bait down the line. But it was interesting to see the variations in drafting styles as we progressed through the draft...

Any one interested in doing a 14 team mock dynasty start up draft? I have my first coming up after the Draft. If so send me a PM and when get enough I'll get it going.

1 qb league and Rodgers goes first? MJD #2? Obviously there are much safer picks than those taken.
I bet Rodgers ends up top 5 in most formats and top 2-3 in larger dynasty leagues.Because of a combination of his age and talent his hype will be at an all time high. I'm even buying into it... :lmao:
I agree, I took him 7 last year in a startup because he's a safer pick. I should note it was a 16team league but still, there's a lot of discussion in the 'is it time to abandon the rb strategy' thread about the amount of turnover in the top 5 Rbs and wrs, where as with qbs if you can find the next manning/Brady etc then you're set for a long time and can worry about other positions.

Yeah if you take a qb in the first round you will be worrying about your other positions.

And if you took MJD last year you'd be worrying as well. Theres no right answer but I'm very happy with Rodgers in the long term. IMO stud qbs are the hardest to find and last the longest.

What? I think you typed hardest, when you meant easiest. It is not a matter of opinion. Look at the drafts - QBs are clearly not the hardest to find. You can wait until round 5 or 6 and get a very good QB.

Sorry, I see your point. However, Im not talking about your round 6 startup qbs. I'm talking about looking for the next manning who can give you many years of elite production. How many Mannings have their been, finding someone like that in a dynasty is pretty difficult in my opinion.

Wow....4pts per td. I can understand 16 teams makes qb's more valuable but wow.
Im kinda suprised Jennings has fallen so far. I was debating between him and roddy at 2.1...

WRs in general have been falling in this draft. I didn't expect to see as many RBs drafted this soon since we start 2rbs and 3wrs plus PPR. So far if I could have changed anything it would be to wait on QB. I didn't expect anyone in my tier 1 to make it to me in the second and they did. Still too early to tell how major of a gaff it was, but so far I'm enjoying this draft immensely.

If I didn't have Rodgers then Jennings would have been mine, but I'm very happy with Wallace.

12 Team PPR/ 6 pts all tds/ Start: 1/2/3/1/1 Flex (rb/wr/te)Draft is in progress if anyone wants to follow along. http://football20.myfantasyleague.com/2011/options?L=52413&O=17Oh and just an fyi Calvin Johnson went #3.
Jordy Nelson in the 7th? Interesting. Ryan Torain in the 5th?! Wow.ETA: With what's still left on the board, Nelson is actually pretty nuts!
Yeah that must have just happened earlier tonight since I didn't see it. People are buying the big superbowl performance i guess and james jones possibly leaving in free agency.

Last years was very helpful to me. Lets do another.14 team: Q/R/R/W/W/F/F/D1 PPR (RB/WR); 1.5 PPR(TE); TE=WRhttp://football23.myfantasyleague.com/2011/options?L=64055&O=17
Wow, really think Patoons took one on the chin here. When it's all said and done, obvious strength was WR, but I think it will be hard to compete with no TE, those RB's and average QB's. Flacco, Joe BAL QB - 0Henne, Chad MIA QB - 0* Evans, Darren FA RB - -* Lewis, Dion FA RB - -* Todman, Jordan FA RB - -Brown, Donald IND RB - 0Thomas, Pierre NOS RB (Q) - 0Wells, Chris ARI RB - 0* Harris, Dewayne FA WR - -* Johnson, Ronald FA WR - -* Smith, Courtney FA WR - -Baldwin, Jon FA WR ® - -Bess, Davone MIA WR - 0Crabtree, Michael SFO WR - 0Fitzgerald, Larry ARI WR - 0Heyward-Bey, Darrius OAK WR - 0Jennings, Greg GBP WR - 0Jones, Jacoby HOU WR - 0Marshall, Brandon MIA WR - 0Tate, Golden SEA WR - 0* Green, Virgil FA TE - -* Housler, Rob FA TE

Definitely would love to see more. Nice to see how these are playing out as I will be in a start-up vet/rookie combined starting May 1st. 14 team TE 1.5 start 1 QB, 1 RB 3 WR 1 TE 2 flex K 1 DT 2 DE 4 LB 2 CB and 2 Safety. Will be interesting to see how the rookies effect the value.

Wow, really think Patoons took one on the chin here. When it's all said and done, obvious strength was WR, but I think it will be hard to compete with no TE, those RB's and average QB's. Flacco, Joe BAL QB - 0Henne, Chad MIA QB - 0* Evans, Darren FA RB - -* Lewis, Dion FA RB - -* Todman, Jordan FA RB - -Brown, Donald IND RB - 0Thomas, Pierre NOS RB (Q) - 0Wells, Chris ARI RB - 0* Harris, Dewayne FA WR - -* Johnson, Ronald FA WR - -* Smith, Courtney FA WR - -Baldwin, Jon FA WR ® - -Bess, Davone MIA WR - 0Crabtree, Michael SFO WR - 0Fitzgerald, Larry ARI WR - 0Heyward-Bey, Darrius OAK WR - 0Jennings, Greg GBP WR - 0Jones, Jacoby HOU WR - 0Marshall, Brandon MIA WR - 0Tate, Golden SEA WR - 0* Green, Virgil FA TE - -* Housler, Rob FA TE
TEs aren't required and Flacco is underrated.ETA: You also forgot that I have Alshon Jeffrey
