Power Cable Protector (1 Viewer)

I have a MacBook Air that I bought in 2015 and I have gone thru the power cable a second time now. (I don't want to hear about how good PCs are and such. I love MacOS based computers and you will not be able to change my mind!) The problem is the cable is a bit fragile at the end where it attaches to the computer; it frays after a while and this is exaggerated when the cable is bent sharply and held at that angle. (I have teens that use it and they don't pay attention to this!)

What have people done/used to keep this from happening? I have seen attachments that you add to the end of the cable to assist, but I don't see how these help. Do they make it harder for the cable to bend sharply?

Anyone have any thoughts? TIA!

Nothing to prevent wear. Did find a oem replacement through Walmart.com at about half the price. You have the use the 120v cord/pls from the old one.

I was thinking to get something like this. Looks like the coil helps prevent 90 degree bending of the power cable.

I'm scared of a OEM replacement, don't want a bad charger to ruin my expensive laptop/notebook whatever.

my kids do this to our tablets (we have ipads and android tablets, so it's not a one or the other problem). blackdot for that cord.

We have a bunch of iPads and iPhones in the house (Go Apple! ;) ) and I tend to buy stronger, more expensive cables (like Anker), hoping to have them last longer. I'm ticked at Apple on the power cord because they allow you to change the cord between the wall and the adapter for either replacement or travel; however you can't replace the cable between the adapter and the computer. You are forced to buy the whole $75 unit. Obnoxious.

I think the newer versions that have the USB C adapter for power on the laptop should last longer because the cable comes into the connector at a 90 degree angle, reducing the chances for wear. Also in looking at them now, they allow a generic USB C cable from the charger to the computer, resulting in replacement! Guess I need to upgrade my MacBook!!
