Power Washer For Home Use--Anyone Have One? (1 Viewer)

Thinking about getting a power washer for home use. Anyone have one?

This one is on sale. Don't know if it's overkill but I'd prefer to err on the side of a little too much than a too little.

In before all of the hire someone and buy the company cracks.

What exactly are you using it on? And over how much space? That one might be a little too industrial for your needs. I've been looking at getting one as for my concrete patio, but they were a little smaller and cheaper if I recall correctly.

If you're just spraying stuff off an electric one might do, but if you need any power the gas is the way to go and this isnt that out of line for a gas powered washer. Take good care of the tip/wand. You dont want to eff that up. Make sure its on flat/stable ground when using (they vibrate a lot and you dont want it to tip over) and make sure you're not yanking it around by the hose. Either of these could eff up connectors.

I've been looking into purchasing a new power washer myself. I have narrowed it down to http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200594736_200594736 or the step below without the CAT pump. The big difference between the pumps in these to models is you can run the CAT pump continuous (trigger pulled). With the less expensive pumps you need to cycle every so often (let go of the trigger) so the pump doesn't over heat.

In my situation I have a bigger deck and over a 150 ft of limestone wall that I need to clean up. So I would rather spend the extra money and not have to worry about overheating the pump.

I've had a small Karcher electric that I have been using for the last 5 years, and it just doesn't have the power to get the jobs done in a reasonable amount of time.

I could be wrong but I believe the way to do this is buy a kit that works with an air compressor. If you don't already have an air compressor it has many other uses.

I don't think I have ever seen that. I have one that my FIL never used, so he gave it to me. Gas powered, but definitely not as high end as the one you linked. My house is all brick, but the undersides of the trim between the bricks and the roof as well as the front porch stairs were getting pretty dirty and it was actually pretty fun cleaning it all off. I think I will have to hire someone to do the second story trim as I don't think it is powerful enough to clean all the way up there and I don't see myself climbing up a ladder to clean those, seems like an ad for bad idea jeans. When it starts getting nice out again in March, I'll probably break it out again.

I was using my pressure washer (3000 psi) using the 0 degree needle valve to "dig" 3 Bradford pear trees that had been in their original pots for about 5 years. The roots had grown through the pots in about 6 ft in every direction. The soil is hard packed clay and rock, and a shovel just wouldn't work. I know this machine was NOT designed to do the work I was using it for, and I should not have been using it that way, but hey, I'm a guy and I know better than those stupid warnings in the manual.

It was working great, and I had almost gotten the 3rd on free and ready for transplanting, when I switched my left hand position, which was holding the end of the wand. I was wearing thick gloves, so I was protected from any harm right...WRONG! As soon as the water from the nosel ran across the tip of my finger, I knew I was in trouble. I don't think my skin made contact with the spray for half a second, but that was enough. I got cleaned up, grabbed my 5 yr old grandson, and called my wife to pull my chart (she is the nurse for my doctor). They cleaned the small puncture wound on the side of my left ring finger, says I will probably need surgery, and sent me to the hospital for an X-Ray. By now, my finger is swelling up to the second knuckle, and it is starting to hurt. The X-ray shows no damage to the bone, but shows a lot of "debre" in the tip of the finger.

Later that night, as the swelling is to my wrist, and I am crying from the pain, my wife calls the doc, and they convince me to go to the ER. The ER doc wants me to see a hand surgeon right then, but can't find one, I live in a small town, and makes me one to see a hand specialist in Nashville the next day as an emergency patient. After an IV full of antibiotics, I go home with some powerful pain killers that do NOTHING to dull the pain. The next morning, we drive almost 2 hrs to see the specialist, who upon looking at my hand...looking, never touching, says come back on Friday, and we'll see how it is. Tuesday night, up all night in agony. On We'd, my wife and doc send me back to Nashville for a second opinion. By now, finger is severely swollen, open wound oozing some nasty, dark liquid, and smells of rotting flesh.

She says yes, I do need surgery right now, but due doc ethics, she can't do the surgery, says it would be "awkward" to do that to a fellow college. Now day 3, have seen 4 docs, and have only gotten it cleaned by my wife. Cry all night and into Friday. Doc says "you need surgery, it would be dangerous to leave like that." Well DUH! After 96 hours of intense pain, surgery is performed. Pain is almost gone, except when I bang my hand against something. I start physical therapy today, and all because of my stupidity, and less than a second of contact with the pressure washer. People...read the directions...keep anything you don't want hurt away from the nose I

Gantsum, thanks for your Darwin moment and make sure you sue the Pressure Washer company... You're that 3rd dumb and dumber brother aren't you?

Like any power tool, use as directed and they work wonderfully. The one you have picked out will work great, I have a similar one (w/ the Honda motor) and would recommend it to anyone... Except Gantsum that is.

Wow. Hope you make a full recovery.

I got a Dewalt but returned it as it was a dud. Decided to go with an inexpensive one from Cosco and it's been fine.

My first project. My wife wasn't impressed.

Hell of a first post. Welcome to the FFA.

Never heard of those doctor ethics.
