Hey Guys,

Preseason is one time of the year when TV access to games is very limited. But most games are shown in their local markets.

If you can watch a preseason game, you can be a hero for the board and let us know what you see.

Please Note: Assume with these preseason game threads that the other people in the thread aren't watching the game. Normally, these threads are full of "nice catch" posts and that's cool because everyone is watching and everyone knows what you mean. But for these, please tell us more specifically what you're seeing as if we can't see the game.

Please focus on the things that won't show up in the box score.

- who got time with the starters

- how they looked

- body language on the sidelines

That kind of stuff. Basically, post the kind of stuff you'd like to know about a game that you are not able to watch.

I'll be at the game tonight, so tommorrow I"ll do a little personal writeup, mainly focusing on Rivers/Gates/VJax and the offensive line. LT & Parker arent playing tonight, and I expect McCardel to get very limited PT. Marty said Rivers will play well into the 2nd Q.

I am going as well. Be outside at 5pm.
 
Packers three-and-out on their first drive -- Favre 1-2; Davenport 1 carry 0 yards

No LT for the Chargers tonight.

 
Chargers TEs killing the Packers. Rivers to Gates for 17 yards (Hawk got burned) and Manamamnaeueulalala just caught one for about 30 yards.

 
Rivers to Jackson 17-yard TD. Very nice throw by Rivers to get the ball over Al Harris and to Jackson for the TD.

Edit to add the Packers are challenging the call. Should be overturned since Jackson's second foot landed on the line. Still a very nice throw from Rivers on the play. He looks real poised so far.

Chargers just ran essentially the exact same play for a TD again -- Rivers to Jackson for a 22-yard TD. Jackson ran right by Ahmad Carroll, who appears to be in mid-season form.

Jackson with the TD; not Gates. But yes Ahmad Carroll is a totally worthless CB.Rivers looked real good on that drive.

:yes: I've been high on Rivers all summer, and that drive certainly didn't hurt my confidence in him. He stepped into all of throws amazingly well. He also seems to be reading the coverages very well, and all throws have hit players in stride. :thumbup:
 
Back-to-back sacks by SD. Did Matt Wilhelm start tonight, or was he only in on that passing down?

 
Two straight incomplete passes for Rivers. He is human.

Edit to add: He's only completed 70% of his passes so far, the slacker.

The Chargers are throwing Favre around like a rag doll, blowing thru the line.

Favre down again!!! and again, and again.

No yards rushing.

Now 3rd and 29

Everything for the Chargers is three-step drops. Rivers gets rid of the ball quickly and is making good decisions. He should've kept this drive going but had a drop on third down. The Packers are having all sorts of problems defending the TEs in the passing game. It's scary to think how bad they've be getting abused if this was a regular-season game and Gates was playing. I've been impressed with Rivers so far.

As stated above the Packers look pathetic in all phases of the game so far.

The next good thing the Packers' offensive line does will be the first good thing they've done tonight. They look horrible. They can't pass block and they're getting no push in the running game. The Chargers are owning the line of scrimmage.

 
Hawk got toasted by Gates on a 17-yard completion on the first series. He made a nice play on a catch by Manaamananeulalalala on the last series. Hodge hasn't played yet that I've seen.

I see Najeh got 9 yards on two carries that last possession. OL didn't contribute?

Not really. Davenport got 4 on his own on second down. Then the line got pushed back big-time on third down and Davenport got stuffed.

Rivers is 7/10 so far. Of the 3 incompletions, one was a drop that would have been a first down, and one was a perfect fade pass that should have been a TD, but the WR didn't get his second foot inbounds. He is sharp... as I expected. I have been saying it all offseason--Rivers = value. :thumbup:
