Pre-Game Thread - Arizona Cardinals at Carolina Panthers (1 Viewer)

Arizona played Carolina straight up at Carolina, arguably outplayed them, but lost due to untimely turnovers and an ill-advised fake FG attempt. With Arizona moving back toward balance on offense, they should not be underestimated in this one.

10 points is way too much, although I'll admit that when things have gone bad for the Cards this year, they've got really bad. Still, Delhomme is no world beater, and Warner has already shown he can pass on this defense. Shocked that the Cards aren't getting more respect.

It is down to 9.5. Seems like a good deal to take the Cards and the points, but then again, Vegas knows what they are doing. I wonder how people can make bets as soon as the lines come out? Is it gut reaction, do they study the potential matchups ahead of time, or both? I'll be waiting until a day before the game or less as usual...

:goodposting:The Cards looked like they were back to midseason form against the Falcons. Considering Kurt Warner lit the Panthers' defense up earlier in the season, this is going to be a very interesting game.

to me this is the easiest of the 4 games to call.Panthers win easy.Cards for the back door cover
Boldin is gonna play a big part on this, and we prob wont know on him till late week, hopefully that line doesnt move much....

That's funny. I think I remember hearing everyone sayin the same thing this past week about the Cards. Gotta love runnin under the radar.

I hate trying to predict the Cardinals. I've been saying for weeks that I don't think they have been giving 100% effort ever since they clinched the NFC West so early. That makes it hard to figure out who they are. I picked the Cardinals to beat the Falcons in part because the Falcons were lousy on the road. By the same token, the Cardinals were 3-5 on the road, with all 3 victories coming against their own terrible division. I'd picked the Panthers but seeing how close the first meeting was in Carolina does give me pause. Wouldn't bet a thing on this game.

not me. The Card/falcon game was the hardest to call (for me) last week. And the eagles were a slam dunk. This week I like the Carolina, sorry bro

As much as I would like ANOTHER Cards victory, they are terrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrible playing on the Least Coast
The meadowlands, Linc and Gillette are a bit different than where they will be playing come this Sunday. I think this route was your only shot at the NFC Championship.

I agree with half of that - no one was rooting harder for the Eagles so the Cards could start in Carolina instead of the Meadowlands............BUT they didn't win the first time there.....and didn't win Anywhere in the Eastern Time Zone

Weather outlook for charlotte on Saturday is 52 and 40% chance of rain. Probably mid 40s by kickoff.. that wont help warner and co.

It's funny that a week ago, the "experts" all said that the Cards were the worst team to make the playoffs. Now they're everybody's sleeper pick to beat the Panthers. Big difference playing on the road, travelling across the country, and playing against a QB who is not a rookie making his first playoff (on the road) appearance.

no sorry to me big dog. i'd rather people pick vs the cards than with them. regardless of the outcome, i definitely think that it will be closer than what the 10 point spread indicates. although, you never know. when the cards lose, they lose big. and i know its not a good thing for the cards if boldin doesnt play, but im pretty sure they won a few games earlier in the season without him. not sure who they were against or anything but who knows. if edge is as effective this week as he was vs atlanta, i dont see why the cards cant hang with carolina. if they could somehow find a way to slowdown two top 5 running games in back to back weeks then it will be a solid game. but that of course is a huge if. it should be a fun weekend of football no matter what.

I haven't placed a single bet this football year. I'll be all over the Birds and the points. The Panthers defense may not have invented the back door cover, but they've perfected it.

 Ryan's experience showed last week. A few more years under his belt and that game has a different outcome. Arizona is a different team at home and this Saturday they will be on the road. Carolina has had two weeks to prepare for both Atlanta and Arizona. They play Atlanta often enough to know what to expect there. They have studied the film of week 8 against Arizona and I'm confident they have a good game plan in place to mitigate previous mistakes. I hope the weather dips into the mid to low 40s. It would be prime conditions for Carolina's running game. Not so good conditions for Boldin's injury. The key to Carolina's game, besides ball control, is putting pressure on Warner all nigtht long.

I dunno. I think the Cards may have found something out about themselves last week - that they're allowed to tackle runners at or behind the LOS, and that they can run the ball even if they're not piling up yards at a record pace. If forced at gunpoint to pick a winner, I'd take Carolina but I think the Cards have much more than a puncher's chance here.

Panthers were lucky to have won earlier in the season, our secondary better improve.
The secondary is definitely a concern. I hope they are at the top of their game Saturday night, and I hope our DT's (Lewis and Kemoeatu) have finally gotten healthy over the past week 1/2 too, as well as Otah and Hangartner. Fox has been mum on them, but I think the injury report has to be released today.Go Cats!! * it looks like all are back except for hangartner.Starting tackles Maake Kemoeatu (ankle) and Damione Lewis (shoulder), who both missed time at the end of the regular season, practiced Wednesday and look to be OK for Saturday's playoff game against Arizona.Offensive tackle Jeff Otah, who hurt his toe in the regular-season finale at New Orleans, also practiced. The only player who didn't practice was offensive lineman Geoff Hangartner, who's still recovering from an ankle injury.

I think this game might get out of hand real quick (in Carolina's favor). 10 points is a lot to give any playoff team, but the snowball effect (playing from behind) could make this one a laugher by the 4th quarter. Not saying Arizona doesn't have a chance, but they've got to hold Williams/Stewart to a respectable YPC (which is a longshot, IMO). If not, it'll likely be a bloodbath.

BLACKOUT is now in effect!!!
What does this mean?
It means put on your black dude, cause the Panthers are wearing their black jerseys Saturday night.
Yup...first time ever for a home playoff game.
Calling for rain showers around kickoff. Sorry Cardinals you are going to get prison raped.
Damn, this makes the line more legit IMO. Gonna have to rethink the Cards/Over reverse

Reports are saying that Anquan Boldin practiced this morning, albeit in a limited manner. If I had to venture a guess, I would say that he'll likely play on Saturday in a situational role.

I'm sitting here in Charlotte now, and it's been a beautiful day. If it's going to rain, it better come pretty quick. Blue skies with some clouds, although it looks like they're coming in more.

Was out at restaurant last night and saw many of the Cardinals players (Ruth's Chris). Edge and Fitz were sitting together. I was hoping the waiter would slip them some mickies, but no such luck. I'm told Kemo eats there and orders three steaks. Now THAT'S some eatin'
