Preseason Game: Patriots vs. Panthers (1 Viewer)

Maroney looks real good...he can cut on dime. The stats won't show that he was getting hit real early on some of his early runs. The Pats O line has looked rocky in the rush game this preseason but seemed to have picked it up a notch since that fourth down play deep in their territory (which I believe BB did to challenge them).
Are you gonna plagiarize the whole thing for us? Do you have any thoughts of your own on this matter...

Nice Good Will Hunting quote. Can anyone watching the game explain how Morris has looked as good as Maroney? I'm hearing both have looked quite good. What's the objective opinion?

maroney's vision looks great.morris looks more powerful, bit more burst.

Im a Seahawks fan...and I just have to say the Patriots look soooo good, almost like they are not even trying that hard and still dominating. They are going to own this year. I used to be a Patriots HATER.....I have now learn to truely enjoy watching them, and everything they do...from the front office to game planning to playing the game. Class Act all the way. Im jealous.....hopefully someday I can feel how Pats fans have felt for the last few years.

I'm really not sure what this cheapshot is all about but I'm more than willing to hear why you took it.

This one too.

That sound you hear is Maroney's ADP climbing.
Really? Because he looks healthy?J
OK, Joe, we get it, you're not big on Maroney and predict Sammy will steal carries...you're digging your heels on the anti-LM end of this as much as the other guy is on his pro-LM end. Can't we all just get along?! :goodposting:
Hi TD,Just discussing. It's all good. I really do like to hear why people are moving players. It helps me try to gauge what people are thinking. I also find it really interesting how different people see and pick up on different things.J

Come on, Boston, you of all people should recognize a Good Will Hunting quote. I'm sure he was just pulling your leg based on your ID.

The announcers on TV made the exact same point about 5 times.

I've actually never seen the movie. I know it's supposed to be a good movie (it's no Road House) but for some reason I've never had any interest in it. A guy I know had a bit part in it...I think Damon gives him a beating in it.

Since I have the Sox on the radio I can plead innocent...although it's a very easy point to make because it was very obvious what was going on.

My take (as a non Maroney owner) is that Maroney has looked (a qualified) very good. Which is to say for a guy playing in his first game of the year coming off his first real week of practice of the year, he's done a lot of good things. The early going was rough because the O-line was not doing anything. Even Dan Dierdorf could see that Maroney was having to make his first move several yards deep in the backfield early on. Frankly, the fact that he got positive yards on those carries is a very positive thing, IMO. Once the O-line got going, Maroney started eating up the yards...and versus a very good run D.As for Morris vs. Maroney, yeah that's a serious concern for Maroney owners. Morris has looked solid and Belichick likes to emphasize different personnel from one week's gameplan to another as much or more than any other coach, so there will definitely be week's when Maroney sees less than ideal (from a fantasy owner perspective) number of touches. That said, I think as Maroney gets fully into the swing of things, he'll be the clear cut go to guy most weeks because he's just a better back and brings a dimension (home run ability) that Morris will never have.

Guys...Panthers defense has barely had Peppers in. Dave Ball and some other 2nd stringers are being tested against the number 1 Pats Oline. This is it.

Panthers offense does look rusty...but that'll come.

A couple of reasons1) BB confident enough to give him 14 carries in the first 21 minutes.2) His yardage totals are great against a top 10 defense3) He looks like he's matured a bit as a runnerI think you're going to see him creep up in WCOFF drafts...ahead of guys like Rudi and S. Smith.
You gotta be :banned: to take Rudi before Maroney.

..and that's without Seymour/Warren/Samuel playing for the Pats.

NO need to explain, Joe...A) it's your site and B) I was only looking for an excuse to quote Rdney King. :banned:

Any chance we can get Henning back if we ask nicely.

Hiring your offensive coordinator from the Browns is about as bad as hiring your defensive coordinator from a PAC 10 school.

What's the deal with Foster? Did he play? How did look?

I tuned in with just a few minutes left in the 1st quarter and its been all Williams.

I own both Foster and Williams, they will combine to be my #3

Why, pt?J

when I see Panthers players patting Dan Morgan on the head...I cringe...you never know when his next concussion will be.

I'm sure I'm just ######ed and haven't noticed this before, but are teams allowed to have LB's push the DL forward while attempting to block a kick? I thought pushing forward wasn't allowed... or is that college or something?

Pushing is allowed. Jumping and landing on another player is a penalty.

Flipping back to the game for a moment, it looked like Old Vinny "Green Balls" was in the game. Curious how he looked, (other than old)?

Maroney's upside is almost double Rudi's. I guess I could take out the loco smiley and put in "playing not to lose, instead of playing to win"."You gotta be playing not to lose, instead of playing to win to take Rudi before Maroney.

As a Panthers fan, hopefully that PS week 1 offensive line play will come back. The first unit looked like world beaters in PS game 1 vs. the Giants. Bring on the reg. season, I want to see what the Panthers will look like then. If they still can't move the ball then I'll be concerned.

uhh...be very concerned. Pushing around a pathetic Giants D means nothing. Hiring coaches from the worst franchise in the league is the sign of a problem.

I thought the offense got it going after a while. Delhomme had Steve Smith a couple times on balls that could easily have gone for TDs. That's what preseason is for.
