Preseason RTD: Free Agency Thoughts (1 Viewer)

Putting together the first installments of the preseason RTD this month and decided to hold off on the scheme talk and free agency movement discussion until we have some free agent movement to discuss. Instead, I'm doing a Q&A of sorts. The first two installments will be a compilation of things that I've been looking into closely and topics that have dominated conversations on Twitter and in the Forum.

First installment posted last night, with discussions about Mario Williams, Ndumakong Suh, the rookie linebackers, Jamar Chaney, Charles Johnson, part-time 2010 DL with upside, Desmond Bishop and the next wave of young linebackers and how to play last year's spike in DB numbers. Next installment will have discussions on the impact of the NFL changing its tackle defaults, Chris Gocong, Rolando McClain, rookie DBs and DLs, the Houston ILBs and a few interesting statistical splits and trends.

The third installment is a who and what to watch before free agency starts, including speculation on the major defensive free agents (and many of the minor free agents who could have an impact), as well as some thoughts on some depth chart nuggets to watch.

Nice job. I was hoping Sturdivant could win the job(or a job) later in the year but you're probably right-probably next year now.

Part 2 posted today.

Includes discussion of the ETA and upside of this year's rookie DL and DB classes, Rolando McClain, the Houston ILBs, some tackle opportunity factoids, Chris Gocong and the impact of what could be a hugely important change to how the league records tackles this year.

Also, please post/PM/email/tweet your questions this week for the final installment of the series.

Question for the final installment. This might be impossible to answer (I'm having a tough time figuring out how to ask it), but I'll give it a shot.

Last year, it seemed like everyone who was a regular in this forum owned the same few DBs and it was a bit of a running joke. LaRon Landry, Patrick Chung and TJ Ward were constantly discussed and we all suffered together when Chung was benched and Landry went on IR. Overall, though, we all probably benefited massively because of how well these players performed and how much value we got out of them based on where we were able to draft them.

So my question is this: who are the DBs that we are all going to own together this year? I'm guessing Eric Berry will be one, but are there other names that will present great value on draft day? I'm not talking about late-round steals, but merely the guys that we'll be able to draft as the 5-15th DBs off the board but who will end up in the top 5 of scoring.

RTD3: Who and What to Watch During Free Agency

There'll certainly be a surprise or two not covered, but the third installment of the preseason RTD includes a positional look at the major free agents, some lesser free agents that could have a big effect on the rank lists and some depth chart nuggets to file away.

Jene with P. Poz departing Buf does Sheppard leap way up your rookie prospect board!! Also does Mouton and Butler seem to be sliding out of the picture in SD with the signing of spikes? If they dont make any more moves and do not sign Siler or Burnett who will be next to spikes and will anyone be of value?
