Cheney.Trump wouldn't be the first candidate to pick a running mate that was a life insurance policy. Quayle? Agnew?
Is Trump against equal protection for LGBTQ people? Why would an administration keep reports on their website which draw conclusions they do not agree with?
Well, sure. Since the report says that ending gender discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity is to be commended, it's disconcerting to members of the LGBT community that it was removed day 1.Why would an administration keep reports on their website which draw conclusions they do not agree with?
Precisely. That's the concern. Is Trump against equal protection for LGBTQ people?
Republicans in general are against laws which give special protections to certain groups. Is Trump against equal protection for LGBTQ people?
The last two Presidents who were shot picked running mates they thought more qualified than they were. Kennedy picked Johnson, Reagan picked Bush. Maybe if you don't want to be shot, you pick a moron for a running mate.Cheney.
The Supreme Court ruling still stands, though it may only be relevant to half the letters. There are still other groups that have no protections - polyamory, for example.Well, sure. Since the report says that ending gender discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity is to be commended, it's disconcerting to members of the LGBT community that it was removed day 1.
what exactly did the report recommend?Well, sure. Since the report says that ending gender discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity is to be commended, it's disconcerting to members of the LGBT community that it was removed day 1.
Apparently that "ending gender discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity is to be commended ." Unknown whether it advocated uni-gendered toilets in elementary schools though.what exactly did the report recommend?
A lot is unknown. The flowery goals of the report is nice, but until you understand the meat of the report, it is impossible to say the reasoning.Apparently that "ending gender discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity is to be commended ." It's still cached on google. Google "advancing LGBT workplace rights" and view the cached version of the PDF.A lot is unknown. The flowery goals of the report is nice, but until you understand the meat of the report, it is impossible to say the reasoning.
Nice. Hope the log cabin republicans are having an awesome day fielding these calls. And reinforced by this news:

Also today: John Gore, the lawyer who *defended* North Carolina's anti-trans HB2 in court,
was nominated to run DOJ's Civil Rights Division
No mention of the Affordable Care Act or the word "Obamacare", either. This is probably a better thread to keep track of these things - inauguration is moving too fast to keep up. I'll try to update as it goes.
The Trump administration's websites have changed over.
The Department of Labor has removed its report on LGBT workplace rights
The White House no longer has any reference to Climate Change (other than repealing President Obama's Climate Action Plan.)

Huh. I guess the battle on Sessions wasn't "disappointing or disqualifying"? It was "bug or feature"?And reinforced by this news:

Strange they would lug it all out for the press conference and not turn it in.
I guess it was weird to me to discover airliners didn't have tracking devices if they crashed and it's also weird to me to discover that there is no enforcement mechanism for nepotism and COI laws that have been around for as long as more than a century (dating to Garfield/Arthur).Strange they would lug it all out for the press conference and not turn it in.
Okayyyy.... how? In a limo?Trump just signed an executive order on Obamacare
He's in the Oval Office. No idea what the EO is. It's to "ease the burden of Obamacare" but no details.SaintsInDome2006 said:Okayyyy.... how? In a limo?
My guess: dropped the $ penalty for not having insurance in regards to upcoming tax filing..He's in the Oval Office. No idea what the EO is. It's to "ease the burden of Obamacare" but no details.
HRC defended a pedophile, yet somehow I didn't see you screaming about that. Lawyers take on jobs all the time that they don't necessarily agree with.squistion said:And reinforced by this news:

The infrastructure talk is much different than Trump's actual infrastructure proposal. On paper, it's a lot of subsidies to private companies to build toll roads and bridges, and then let the private companies keep the revenue from the tolls on the roads and bridges. Nothing for rural development, fixing water systems, or anything private companies can't turn into a revenue stream.Doctor Detroit said:I really hope he's serious about the infrastructure talk. Of everything he's talked about this is the most important to me and it's critical to the nation as a whole.

Some housing markets are hotter than in 2006/7. This is probably prudent to make sure a big bubble doesn't burst again. Taxpayers bear the risk of these loans.squistion said:http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/Trump-Suspends-Order-That-Would-Have-Made-Mortgage-Insurance-Cheaper-411343755.html
Trump Suspends Order That Would Have Made Mortgage Insurance Cheaper for 1M Households
What to Know
The Trump Administration suspended rules that would have cut FHA mortgage insurance premiums this month
Reports had suggested that first-time homebuyers could have saved up to $700 a year with the premium cut
The outgoing Obama Administration put the new FHA rules into place just 11 days ago, angering some Congressional Republicans

First test for Democrats, many lib/progs will love this on the face of it.The infrastructure talk is much different than Trump's actual infrastructure proposal. Basically he's applying the economic model of using public funds to help private companies build stadiums to roads and bridges.

I would applaud the plan first. If it could be demonstrated that DJT played a significant part in making it happen, then I would applaud him.First test for Democrats, many lib/progs will love this on the face of it.
Let's say it was a good plan. Would that make it worth applauding Trump?
Sure. If it was a good plan. The problem, like any issue with Trump, is it's not clear what the plan is now, or what it will be in a week.First test for Democrats, many lib/progs will love this on the face of it.

Odd article. States there is no record of his divestiture, but has a picture of all the documents right at the top.SaintsInDome2006 said:

He seems to mean business and I'm pretty sure we won't see the Hamlet like struggles with the spirit of the Constitution we got with Obama.Anxiously awaiting his first executive order on trade- is he really dumb enough to put up big tarrifs? Based on his inaugural speech it sounds like he is...
Somehow if you actually did see his tax returns I doubt "concede" would be what you'd be saying.Show me Trump's tax returns and I'll concede lots of points.
Now Saints, you know as well as I do "shovel ready" was a fantasy. As was "jobs created". As was "green jobs."And the 'shovel ready' lingo (per Obama, later) wasn't really always that.
I don't think this order actually DID anything. I think it just established that his administration would look to end Obamacare....duh...He's in the Oval Office. No idea what the EO is. It's to "ease the burden of Obamacare" but no details.
Such an order could have immediate consequences. Like not getting help from China with North Korea. Many Republicans would likely counter Trump on this.Anxiously awaiting his first executive order on trade- is he really dumb enough to put up big tarrifs? I'm gonna stop there. I could keep going all night.
Yes, I meant NOT getting help from China. This seems much more likely to tick off China.
Interesting. Hoping to see some projects get done however, a lot of stuff needs to be brought up to date. Because the GOP is going to be against it, maybe Trump will find some allies among the Democrats and institute some of their infrastructure repair ideas.
