Pretty strong words from some Bengal players... (1 Viewer)

Carson Palmer had some interesting words about the Patriots after losing 38-13.

" I don't know if we were too cocky or too confident, but I know this is a team that we should've beat. Hopefully, well get another shot at them. I know if we play our best football, we can beat them ," Palmer said. T.J. Houshmandzadeh added, " They knew they couldn't stop us, but you need the team as a whole to succeed... There aren't any (defensive backs) on that team that can cover us." Uh, maybe they were too cocky.

"They know they couldn't stop us." :lmao:

Forget the beating they took today... these comments are coming from a franchise that hasn't won a playoff game since January 6, 1991 about a team that has won 3 of the past 5 Super Bowls.

Pretty dumb comments . . . if you get whooped by 25, just say "they treated us like a king . . . .

Rodney King " . . .

I'm not impressed with the Bengals this year. They were physically dominated last week but the Steelers handed them the game with 2 late turnovers. Right now it looks like the Ravens are the team to beat in the AFC North.

All the Bengals proveed this week is that they aren't ready to eat at the grown up table.

Maybe next year, kids.

Pretty much agree. Cincy won, and I give them credit for beating Pitt in Pitt. This is however 2 weeks in a row where the LOS was dominated on both sides of the ball vs them. Honestly, I think this team could become much better by simply sticking to the run more. They have the ability to.

OK, you tell me what this looks like.

And then there are Cincy's second half posessions

25 second half plays resulting in a total of 59 yards. If Colclough and Haynes don't hand them the ball deep in Pittsburgh territory they are 2-2 and everyone in Cincy is asking what's wrong with the Bengals. You can keep pretending that they played well, but the reality is that this is a team that's in trouble

Here's the full Housh quote:

"They knew they couldn't stop us, but you need the team as a whole to succeed," receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh said. "There aren't any [defensive backs] on that team that can cover us. That's why they played the coverages they did. They did a good job of mixing it up."
That's it! It's the coverage! They knew they couldn't cover them 1 on 1 so they had a "scheme" and had weird coverage. It's a shame that Carson couldn't figure out how to beat coverage, actually that's not fair, he has to learn how to hold onto the ball before he can even throw into coverage. Cincy has a lot of time to ponder their loss and quotes during their buy week.

Cinn had to settle for 2 FG`s to go up 6-0. They moved the ball early but this gave the Pats some life and time to do what they and the coaching staff does best, make adjustments. Pats kept hitting the Cinn soft spot, pound the running game up the middle and let the BEST QB in the league move around find the open man and move the chains. Gabriel is starting to get more reps and Maroney looked like the rookie RB that many NFL GM`s thought he could be. Cinn had a statement game, much like the Bears, and laid a big egg at home. The only thing missing from yesterdays game was Palmer getting hurt again because he was in there way to late and taking shots down by 25 points! Not sure what Lewis was thinking but, they`ll bounce back. But Cinn has to get tougher to play with the elite teams.

There was no way and I mean NO WAY a class organization like the Pats were going to lose to a team like this. When your roster consists of a never-ending cast of punks and loud mouth show boats you are going to take a beating. This Bengal team has a bull’s eye on it. When you start to see players getting benched and suspended for the season over immature and thuggish behavior it is only a matter of time. And I must say- Chad Johnson is WAY overrated.

Was surprised or maybe just forgot about that offensive line. The Bengals should be happy to still have a QB today (by the way he played a lilbit too long)

You people are pretty quick to sour on a team, eh? The sky is falling, the sky is falling :ptts:

Ultimately, the Bengals are showing 2 weaknesses - OLine and DLine.

The OLine is because they've got Ghiaciuc starting at center while Braham is out with a leg injury. Everything that i've been hearing this morning is that over the bye week, they're going to bench Ghiaciuc and move Steinbach over to center and have Whitworth start at LG.

As for the DLine, they brought in Sam Adams to try to help there, but it's pretty obvious that he's a fat lazy *******. The Bengals had to burn a timeout yesterday because he wasn't getting off the field in time and Brady was about to snap the ball and get a 12 men on the field penalty. Obviously losing 2 starting LBs and having a reserve LB out with an injury has made the Bengals pretty thin at LB. I think this puts even more pressure on the D Line to stop the run and they haven't responded.

The reports I was hearing on the way into work this morning were that James would be benched and Jospeh would start at CB - meaning more run blitzing and single coverage for the DBs.

Ultimately, I think if the Bengals offense can get in synch a bit better, then their D will be off the field longer and won't have as many opportunities to be exposed.

Heck 4 weeks into the season, the Bengals are on pace to go 12-4...I'll take it!

Its just like everything else it seems in sports today. Overreaction and extremes are always the norm anymore.

They were not as good as they were being touted the last week or two. Like every other team, they have had pretty big injuries and had holes and Belicheck exposed them like he's done countless times to other teams over the last 5 to 7 years.

On the other hand, they are nowhere near as bad as the crazy crap I've been hearing since yesterday and will no doubt hear today. "Can't sit at the big boy table..." Get real. Its the NFL, folks. Some teams are going to play out of their heads some weeks and get everything rolling and other teams are going have really bad days where it seems nothing is clicking.

:goodposting: Pretty much sums it up right there.

Seems to me that there were two players this week that could not make it on the field because of a little post game party time last week after beating the Steelers. This team is hurting at OL and DL and you expect them to go places? The Pats just exposed a huge weakness again and things never really change- you can run all over this team!

You people are pretty quick to sour on a team, eh? The sky is falling, the sky is falling :ptts:
Not at all. I still think the Bengals are a darn good team and still the favorite to win the division. But their biggest weakness from last season is still a problem this season. If they can't fix their run defense it is going to be very difficult to make it to the Super Bowl.

Cinci is a soft team that plays stupid. They are simply not in the same league as New England,Pittsburg or even Denver. They will put up great stats and make many highlight films. But, they aren't going to win anything.

:lmao: Exhibit A.

No link because I heard it on the radio...

Boomer Esiason gets inteviewed on WEEI once a week. He does a great job and is not shy about telling it as he see it. I'll paraphrase what he said...Cincy has too much nonsense going on internally. Half the team could care less how guys like Thurman and Henry behave while half want it put to an end right away. He feels this is a serious issue within the lockerrom and will be a major test for Marvin Lewis.

Yeah, except that off the field behavior of these tools demonstrates a reckless disregard for discipline for a healthy portion of this team. That'll come back to bite them on days like yesterday.

Funny but I can't think of a more hyped/overrated team than the Bengals for the last few years. The haven't won one big time game yet but are considered favorites against a multi winning SB team? What a lark.

While I didn't expect that Pats to win like they did yesterday, I was confident they would win, but in a much closer game.

That said, Houshmandzadeh sounds an awful lot like Kordell Stewart did a few years ago... "the best team doesn't always win."

Ummm, yes they do. If you lose, you lose. Take it like a man, get back into the film room and practice harder. That's what makes champions.

Someone quoted WEEI... I was listening this morning too. They had Brady on after Esiason, and when Dennis and Callaghan mentioned to Brady what Palmer and Housh said, Brady's reply was "yeah, we've been hearing that around here for a long time."

That's something I've been harping on to all my buds... these Pats aren't winning pretty ('cept for yesterday), are playing alot of backups, and have no stud WRs. Sound familiar?

Haven't you heard? They beat the Steelers in the playoffs last year........If Palmer hadn't gotten hurt.

If you take out that x run from x running back then look at his numbers, they stink!!!Same thing here and yes I still hear it. "If blah blah blah". Why does Marvin Lewis get credited as an excellent head coach and every year the Bengals are considered some great team when they haven't won ONE big time game or at least one I can think of?And to show how insane people think about CIN, they were favored big time over a team who has won multiple super bowls and a team that ALWAYS steps up when the game is big and wins?Bengals, go the **** home until you win a big time game. Until then, shut it!

I have to disagree with you here. The Ravens are clearly the best team in the division at the moment. And I still say that the Steelers are a better team than the Bengals right now. I'm not sure how anybody who watched last week's game could come to any other conclusion. Defense wins championships and the Bengals defense isn't anywhere close to Baltimore or Pittsburgh.

:goodposting: and really this was the main problem in the game yesterday - refusing to concentrate on running the ball (when they would have had at least as much or more success as Denver had the previous week) just so the QB and his WR posse could try and make a great play. If they stayed with the run more they would have severly beat down the NE defense AND given theirs some rest so they could have a chance to stop Maroney, Dillon and Brady.Overall a VERY POOR effort by the Bengals - coaching staff and players - and the whiney comments are ridiculous :bag:

You obviously do not watch football, do you?!!!!
If he didn't watch football, do you think he would be on this site?
You don't get it, do you? I have to say, this used to be a much cooler board to come to about 2 years ago. Now it is filled MOSTLY with over-opinionated idiots.

Agreed. More substance and facts with less Cheerleading would be really good.

I said last year that Cincy is the new Indy. This beating and post game whining proves it.
I think you are onto something but at LEAST Indy has won a playoff game but in terms of two teams who get a lot of hype for not winning a BIG TIME sort of game, I agree 100%
