Pretzel Pizza? Yes, Please! (1 Viewer)

Say what you will about all of these fancy pizza chains, but Little Ceasars will always hold a special place in my heart...and stomach. Now with more pretzel!! My mouth is watering just looking at the picture!

Limited Time Offer - Pretzel Pizza!!

Menu minimalist Little Caesars mostly trades in three things: $5 cheese or pepperoni pizzas, breadsticks, and soda. Unlike its fast-food peers, it doesn’t do much in limited time offers or menu innovation. But on Sept. 1, the chain will break from convention and introduce a pretzel-crust pepperoni pizza, its first limited-time pizza launch in a decade.

Pretzels have been popular on fast-food menus recently—from Wendy’s(WEN) pretzel bacon cheeseburger to Sonic’s (SONC) pretzel dogs. Little Caesars first tested a pretzel crust in 2012 and again earlier this year. The test version had mustard drizzled on the crust—you know, because pretzels love mustard—but the chain found consumers didn’t quite love it on their pizza.

Little Caesars eventually settled on a pretzel pizza with a cheddar cheese sauce in lieu of red sauce, a total of seven kinds of cheese, and salt sprinkled along the edges. It will be available for $6 at the company’s 3,900 restaurants from Sept. 1 to Oct. 26 as a grab-and-go pizza (what the chain calls a Hot-N-Ready) from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., although customers can order it any time of day during those weeks.

Edward Gleich, senior vice president of global marketing, says, “There are more things in the pipeline.” While Little Caesars is committed to keeping operations simple and will not shift to a frequent limited-time offer strategy, “What we’re hearing from customers is a little change will not hurt.” In 2013, the chain added a deep-dish pizza to its core menu.

Restaurant researcher Technomic estimates that Little Caesars is the country’s third-largest pizza chain, with more than $3 billion in U.S. sales in 2013, behind Pizza Hut ($5.7 billion) and Domino’s ($3.8 billion).

Little Caesar's might make the worst pizza in America. I never had Cici's but I heard they are up there as well for the worst pizza.

I don't know how I feel about this. I used to be all onboard with the pretzel craze. For me, it started with Sheetz's Bavarian Pretzel Sandwich, which was just ham and honey mustard on a pretzel bun. Tasted awesome. Then, Wendy's came out with all these Pretzel things...the Chicken Sandwich was OK, but I honestly found the taste of the Pretzel on a burger to be distracting. Too chewy, and the flavor just didn't go well with the other condiments.

I'm again not sure how I feel here...Pretzel with tomato sauce...

I used to love Little Caesar's back in the day (like 15-20 years ago). There's just too many better places these days. Cici's pizza is awful, but the concept is great...you can try all kinds of whacky types of pizza you'd never otherwise try, and kids love it.

They replaced the red sauce w/ cheddar cheese sauce.

We eat Little Caesar's occasionally. If its fresh its pretty good, but often the 'Hot and Ready' have been ready too long and aren't great. Deep Dish is way too greasy.

We started eating it again with the kids and they love it. Brings back memories of the Pizza by the Foot campaign from the 90s. Agree on the Hot N Ready pizza - timing is everything. We typically go at 530/6pm and get it fresh out of the oven as they are preparing for the night cravers.

Little Caesars is pretty bad. I hate buffets but my daughter wanted to try Cici's so we made plans to go. As we pulled into the parking lot there was a group of grimy looking obese people walking into the place and she said lets go somewhere else. The few people that I know that went to Cici's said it was awful.

All of the 8 or so Cici's in the Pittsburgh area closed within a year or two of opening.

They are the Eminence and Mc Gas Bag of pizza. Putrid.
Hey man, I'm at least Pizza Hut quality.

Ugh, my oldest son is a fan of Little Caesar's because there's no wait and he gets to go in and pay for it. I can't stand it, and a pretzel pizza just didn't sound appetizing to me. Though replacing the tomato sauce with cheese sauce might save it...

Haven't ordered a chain pizza in over a decade but was at a Lightning game this year and all the good food had monstrous lines. So we went to the LC booth and it was shockingly ok. The crispy crust was good but the rest of the dough suuuuuuucked.

Still, wasn't the worst 8 bucks I've ever spent.

That 8 bucks was probably what allowed Illich to green light taking on the extra salary in the David Price deal.

Way to go, Cappy

They all closed in Columbus too. We're known as a test market city for restaurants. If we won't eat it, no one will. Not a good sign for Cici's to fail here.

He got shellacked tonight.

When Little Caesar's was a "place an order and go pick it up" kinda joint, it was wayyyy better. Their square pan pizzas were the bomb-diggity. Their current pan is grody.

Related: Cici's is gross but perfect for when you want to pork out for no good reason at all.

Also: Domino's pan is actually quite good.

E2A: I will try this pretzel concoction. I must.

Boy you aren't kidding.

Smyly has been lights out too. At some point some team is going to make the Rays pitching coach a manager.

Cici's is ok. Whenever I go, I always order a deep dish pizza with onions, tomatoes, and green peppers. It's pretty decent for what you pay for. Don't really care for much else there, except I will also pig out on the Mac-n-cheese pizza.

Has anyone eaten one of these pretzel pizzas yet? I've read a couple mediocre reviews, but I'd trust a FBG review over some food snob's review.

Saltier, slightly chewier, version of Little Caesar's standard pizza. Given the choice of regular crust or pretzel, I'd go regular. It's pizza with a pretzel crust, so it really cannot be that bad, but the concept did not wow me at all. If you want me to add a dooshy >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> to my review to make it a FBG review, just say so and I'll make some outlandish proclamation.

One reviewer said that nacho cheese is used in place of pizza sauce. Like straight up carnival nacho cheese. Is this accurate?

I'm confused. Aren't these one and the same?
I don't frequent many food threads here, but the reviewer was whining about sodium levels and nacho cheese. Doesn't seem very FBG-like but who knows.

not the one I had. seemed like normal cheese for most part.

If I were homeless I'd definitely put Little Caesars in the rotation with McDonald's dollar menu double cheeseburger.

Holy cannoli, pretzel pizza is good. And by good I mean it's friggin delicious as you inhale it, but 15 minutes of it sitting in your gut and you want to discharge the pound of salt you just ingested.

I may subject myself to it again, but will make sure to have a gallon of cold water along for the ride.

It doesnt taste like a pretzel when you make it as a pizza. It's kinda like having the muffin top bakery and not making the whole muffin.

No - it looked and tasted just like the yellow stuff in the big can at the ballpark or Sam's Club. How that someone could confuse the two is beyond me.

I became a bigger fan after the wife turned me on to dipping it in a side of marinara. I had 4 slices and felt dirty.
