Sounds to me like a guy that still has the fire in him and still can perform physically, but like a guy that knows in his heart that the risks are too great and will make the tough decision to hang it up. But he definitely leaves open the possibility of coming back. It sounds like he has received many different medical opinions ranging from "no way should you come back" to "you'd be fine." But I just don't see him coming back. It's a shame.

I guess it took 3-5 years after Sanders retired for people to accept it, so looks like we have a couple more years before people realize Holmes has close to a 0% chance of returning as a player.
