Prince Fielder trade offer (1 Viewer)

I've been offered C Delgado, N Robertson, and B Penny for P Fielder.

I should accept this immediately, right?

I know Delgado's #s are down right now, but he should even them out for the year. At least I would think so.

I just accepted it. Now it needs the blessing from league majority.

My pitching staff is now Marquis, Bonderman, Robertson, Felix, Gaudin, Rivera, Hoffman, Wheeler, and Aardsma.

My hitting stats were already solid. 8s across the board with a 9 in SB. My pitching #s weren't the greatest before this trade. They should jump by leaps and bounds after. Hopefully.

This is an office league, 9 owners, 5x5 roto.

you have to ask?? Do it!!

I may be in the vast minority here, but I think you got hosed.

Delgado is coming off wrist surgeries in the off-season. And while he hasn't really shown any erosion skill-wise since 2006, he's 34 and playing in a pitcher's park. I wanted no part of him in the pre-season, and obviously that hasn't changed any. There's no law anywhere that says X player has to hit X number of HR/RBI every year. Disaster years happen, and I think this is probably Delgado's.

Fielder is having a breakout year, not much to expand on there.

As for Penny/Robertson, I don't think they give you that much over replacement level in a nine team league. A deeper league, OK, but Penny's K/BB was around 1 before his big game against Florida a couple nights ago. And a low BABIP and high strand rate have combined to create the illusion that he's pitching well this year. He isn't, he's merely getting lucky.

Robertson keeps the ball on the ground for the most part, but he seems like a pretty average guy to have. K/9 and BB/9 are a pretty pedestrian 5.9 and 2.9 respectively.

You got taken in by a pretty savvy operator. I'd try and minimize the damage by shipping Penny for whatever you can get for him (Freddy Garcia might be an attractive target), and hopefully waiting for Delgado to bounce back a little to give him some trade value. I hope you start a lot of hitters. Good luck.
