Problem with front yard light post getting hot (1 Viewer)

i bought a house a year ago and it has a yard light similar to this. When we moved in the light worked fine but about 2 weeks ago the bulb burned out. Replaced it with a 60watt bulb and it worked for one day and then that too burned out. Replaced it again but there was a noticeable hum coming from the light and the post got very warm quickly.

it is one of those lights that come on when it gets dark but there is a light switch near the front door that controls it. Once I felt the post getting hot I turned the light switch off and haven't turned it on since.

I realize I probably need an electrician come and check it out, but curious what could cause this? According to the label on the light, 75 watts is the max that can be used.

An ideas?

It was created as a light pole but it identifies as a stripper pole.  That's why it's getting hot.  Play some Poison or Def Leppard and grease it up for the local soccer moms. You'll be fine.

Its a possibility they didn't put the feed wire in conduit and it got wet. A new wire fed from the light pole to the switch box is the easy solution, expect a couple hundred bucks to fix
