Products you believe in - Let's hear 'em (1 Viewer)

Before I put the link up, let's remember these are "Products you believe in" and for years I have been pimping the Tommy Bahama brand or line of clothes. I do not enjoy paying full retail for their stuff so any time I can find something 25% and I really like it I typically jump on it. Some things however you cannot find on sale and they make a particular brand of shorts I swear by. They have a little tie in the front inside the shorts and they have a deceptive elastic waist so you can cinch them up with no belt and also they give you a very flexible 10-20 lb range for the shorts...I've had some of these last me 5+ years and that's with heavy use in Florida where shorts are year round.

I have paid $75 easy for these "Survivor" cargos. Norstrom's of all the high priced places is having an anniversary sale and the 3 basic colors are all half priced, you'd be a fool not to try a pair, they run a little big and I think they are neutral on the fashion scale, practical and quality is how I would rate them. They get a lot of good reviews as you can read 78 of them just on the Nordstrom's site. Sale won't last long and it's really the only reason I am linking it here. If you've never worn a pair, order a pair and try them, you all rave about underwear, well try on a pair of these shorts and see what you think.

Do they have deep pockets?

I too have been using that scrubber/washcloth thing for many years after reading about it on FBG.  Absolutely love them.  Way better than washcloths, loofas, and those Dove for Men things.
Agreed 100% on these washcloths. Have been using for years as well. Just reminded me to reorder more. Game changer in the shower.

Texture makes for serious scrubbing and length makes great for back washing/scrubbing (back and forth motion like with a towel).

Good stuff, these.

Sounds like a good product but not a fan of the pleated look.

I don't tuck shirts into shorts but I also understand some guys like to. My pleats are never seen.

I like the look of other shorts but if you aren't the exact weight for the shorts that are sized 34, 36, 38...then you gotta wear a belt and I just want to put my shorts on and go, I don't want to have to pick out a belt and then loop it around, drawstring for me.

I also should note that I like shoes like this which look like they have laces but in fact slide right on. I wear a lot of Reef sandals, I like being ready in under 30 seconds.

I know. And codes to get one free, etc. Still not cheap. Still overpriced. Still mediocre reviews. I can get 2 Serta pillows with better reviews for less or same price as 1 mypillow.
How did you expect them to pay for their advertising campaign?

When we got married 20 years ago, we bought some bedroom furniture from a local store.  2 years later, that stuff was trashed already from light everyday use.  We stumbled across this Amish dealer who buys from the Amish and occasionally gets a hallway spot in the mall to advertise.  We went to his showroom in the Finger Lakes and picked out replacement oak bedroom furniture that cost about 30% more than the laminate crap we had gotten previously.  18 years later, it looks like the day we bought it - just rock-solid.  We ended up going back many times, getting a badass dining room table that expands to handle about 16 people, a hutch for the dining room, and a cedar chest for blankets and stuff.
Amish Dealer is the name of my Crystal Method cover band.

Curious why?
Why am I considering retiring the timbuk2?  I am on the fence.  It really is a great bag.  It's 7 years old and barely looks worn even though used every day.  Recently the buckle on the sling broke.  I ordered a replacement buckle and it doesn't work. I have been talking with them to try and get it resolved but no fix as of yet.

Anyone have a redeemable 'coupon code' for DSC? Doesn't hurt to ask. Thinking of joining.
I started to join a couple days ago .  Signed up for an account and stopped.  Two days later they sent me a code for a free month.  It was for the $9 plan which is the one I had put in my cart.

This is where I am. I will be out of town starting next Friday, so I am going to wait until I get back to start since I don't want the package to sit and wait for me. Maybe if I cancel my cart, they will send me the code too!

What exactly is in fashion right now for shorts? I'm noticing everything is getting tighter looking.  I have no sense of style so my wife dresses me.  There is no way I am wearing skinny jeans.

There is a lot of room between old man pleated elastic wasitband MOP cargo shorts and skinny jeans

For shorts - avoid

1) anything with 1000 pockets

2) super baggy

3) pleats

4) hemmed jorts

No, but welcome to the best club on the net.  I haven't run out of razors, soap, shave butter, or hair product in about a year.  The shave butter is great and the hair stuff is, too.  Basically everything but shampoo that I use to get ready for work comes from there.

Saxx underwear. The best. But make sure you get the silk-ish ones not the rough ones. Looser package holster and of course softer.

Lululemon Hustle sweatpants. Expensive? Extremely. However, they will last way way longer. 10 times longer than cheap ones. And your time in them will be better.

Make sure you get the Hustle ones. They are normal sweatpants. Not all tight and weird.

After a few weeks using that Ozark Trail tumbler from Wal-Mart, I can definitely say it's not as good as the SIC tumbler (never used a Yeti, but I assume the same is true). Whether the difference is worth the extra $30 is another matter, but there's definitely a difference in quality.

The OT cup will keep ice water plenty cold for a couple hours running errands in a hot car. You're going to to notice quite a bit more ice meltage though, and unlike the SIC cup, if you happen to leave it in a hot ### car for 8 hours, you won't still have a good chunk of ice afterwards. Even using inside, the OT cup will show a good amount of ice meltage throughout the day. If the SIC cup is inside, the ice will seemingly never melt.

Maybe more important is the quality of the lid. There's a gasket on the lid that, for the OT cup, that starts to wear down and gets loose (for me, within a few weeks). When that happens, the lid doesn't sit very well in the cup anymore. Still usable, but you have to keep pressing the lid back down and/or adjusting the gasket. I never even thought to look at the gasket in the SIC cup, as after 9 months of use, the lid still fits like day one and the gasket fits tight like new.

Just an FYI for anyone wondering what the differences are. For most people, $10 for an OT cup probably makes more sense (or getting 2-3) over $40 for a SIC or Yeti. But if you are more interested in one that's built a little better for more money (and we know FBG's wipe their ### with $40, finished with a wet wipe), you might skip the Wal-Mart job. Or get some other other brand in the $15-30 range on Amazon.

Anybody got a car air-freshener they like?

Everything I buy lasts like two days tops.
Go to Amazon and search for kubescent. The best period.  Like 10.60.  Mine is going on 2 months and still have half a jar full of scent.  Easily will go 3 to 4 months is my guess.   If you want a stronger scent you tip the bottle upside down and the wood saturates giving off more fragrance.

I really like the Butt naked scent.  The only down side is you cannot let it tip over as the wood will saturate and it will eventually drip.  I hang mine from rear view mirror.

Really cannot recommend it enough!!

Four full paragraphs about a cup?

The Ozaark from Wal Mart is the bomb.

-Sanibel Island coming back, 3-4 hours in the car. Took a cube or two and placed in the bottom, slid an unopened chilled can of Cigar City lager on top and then covered the can with a few more cubes and closed the lid on. As I was pulling up the driveway I look in and the ice barely melted, can ice cold, cup ice cold, cracked the beer and enjoyed while unloading the car.

I bought 2 but might get 2 more just to have in the car and different spots. Best $10 you can spend on a cup.

Subaru and here's why...bought the Mrs an Impreza hatchback in 2012 and it's paid off. It has a little under 50k miles on it. We paid around $20k for it brand new and I just found out it is worth roughly $12,500 on a trade in, I was surprised it was worth that much. The 2016 models look identical and Subaru has announced they are discontinuing the hatchbacks so I want to trade it in while it's worth max...even if it's 10-11k, still seems like these cars retain their value.

Mostly have been a Honda owner, my car is a Honda but the Subaru has been super reliable.

Anyone ever owned an Outback or Forester? Great car, never gives us any trouble, AWD for a car at that price range, makes a huge difference driving IMO.

If you like the hatch, take a look at the new Civic hatchback that comes out in October.

I own a Forester (2010) that's just over 70k miles now. No issues, ever, and I have the turbocharged version.

My parents have an Outback and a Forester and love both of them as well. They are newer modes though, both still under 30k miles I think.

I'll drive this one into the ground and probably buy another in 6-10 years.

I'm starting to think about just keeping it and upgrading the stereo that I never got around to doing. The standard issue stinks, no bass in it.

I just think it would be fun to trade it in, the monthly on this thing was about $400, we spent abut $20-$22k on this thing, 4 years later it's worth $12,000...I can cut my monthly expenses on this to about $200 a month for the duration we have owned it, that's pretty good.

Downside is we would have a car payment and probably a balance of $15k on something new or almost new even with the trade.

Could easily drive it for 5 years...let's say down the road the car is worth $5k when it's about 10 years old...$7k in depreciation over the next 60 months...that's pretty good.

I always say the monthly cost for folks who don't have a car payment with maintenance and depreciation is still about $100-$200 a month depending on the car and how long you drive it. Eventually you are going to buy a new car and there is a cost.

Let's say you buy a new car and drive it 10 years...$25,000 over 120 months...that's still over $200 a month without any repairs and up keep.

Am I thinking right/wrong here?
