PSA: Avoid injury plagued guys in H2H legues. (1 Viewer)

I've gotten burned many a times from this.  You have a player you really like.  He has great match-ups for the week and then BOOM...he's hurt on a Monday or Tuesday and you're screwed for the week.

Guys like.....Wil Myers.  He's a good player when healthy (even hit for the cycle in 2017). But look back on how many times he went on the DL during the past couple of years. It's insane.

How about Iron-Man Ryan Braun?

Braun can`t play 3 games in a row without have a red flag next to his name. This has been going on ever since he got off the growth hormone.

How about don't play in #### leagues with weekly lineups?
What's your preferred alternative?

IMO, season long points leagues are extremely boring and daily line-up leagues are too much of a hassle.  Who has the time each day to see who is getting a rest day, who is starting versus a LH pitcher, etc.?

I think people like him and those susceptible to platoons are much more problematic in weekly lineup leegs than guys like Paxton and Myers.  But price point (and replacement value) matters.  Paxton's price has been low enough to consider in previous years, depending on how easily you can replace him.  I don't think it is this year though.

If Paxton does stay healthy he could be in for a very big year.  I am going to target him in my leagues. Yu Darvish is another that is being drafted late that could be a great value pick if healthy.

You cited a great reason why I'm probably not drafting Paxton.  Why pick a walking DL stint in the top 50 when I can just pick the same guy after the 10th round?

We created a league that has lineup changes on Sunday and Friday.  You basically set lineups for series lengths.  It's head to head points league with weekly matchups.  We also developed a system were we have two six team divisions and play 5 week "seasons".  You play every team in your division once for that "season".  Then the divisions get realigned with the bottom three team from the top division get relegated to the bottom division while the top three teams move up.

You get to start over every 5 weeks and have payouts for each division winner.  The last 6 weeks are playoffs where you get seeded by the number of times you were in the top division.  It is an awesome format because you are never out of it because things reset every 5 weeks.  It keeps everyone involved all season long and we generally don't get orphans....it helps it's also a dynasty so you keep players year to year.
