PSA: Watch your dogs and them eating their hard dog toys! (1 Viewer)

Just got back from picking up our English Bulldog from the emergency animal hospital. She had to have surgery yesterday to remove a large piece of hard plastic she swallowed. The plastic came from a hard, football shaped dog toy that she tore apart and then ate some on Tuesday night (I think). She was fine for the most part with eating, drinking, peeing, pooing but started vomiting overnight Thursday night. Vomit happens every so often but it continued to occur and eventually turned pinkish with a little bit of dried blood. This is when we took her in and they did the xrays, ultrasound, etc.

So yeah, watch your dog and if they are eating their hard toys.

Expensive weekend.

My hopes for a speedy recovery for your pooch.  I wonder if she relates the incidents in her mind so she will eschew chewing stuff up, or if the events are unrelated to her.  Anyhow, sounds like she will get no more chances as you are going to "dog proof" your home.

English Bulldogs man...they're silly.  Mine held onto one of those yellow rubber ducks in his belly for 2 years.  We never knew it was there.  Took him for a routine shot and he had a bad reaction to it and started vomiting.  The duck just popped right out.
