Pulling the trigger on a top QB (1 Viewer)

Normally I never draft a QB until 8th or 9th round.

But McNabb was available in the 7th in a 10 team league. Would you have pulled the trigger on McNabb there?

So... let me get this straight...you say that normally you like to be the guy who grabs a mediocre QB in the 8th or 9th round... but a stud (I'm assuming that you have McNabb ranked as a stud, due to the title) is available a round before you'd be waiting to select... so you're asking if the difference between a stud and a mediocre player is worth grabbing him a round early?Sounds like a no-brainer to me. If Peyton Manning was in the 7th, would you be asking this, too? Don't lock yourself into rounds and such- a lot of people lock themselves into saying that they'll be the last person to take a starting QB. You have to take value when it presents itself. If taking a QB early presents value, then jump on it. I think I've only done one draft this year where I *WASN'T* the last person to grab a QB. In that one draft, I grabbed Peyton Manning. You can't paint yourself into a corner by mindlessly sticking with one strategy- you have to be flexible enough to deviate when value presents itself.

:goodposting: There's nothing wrong of going in with a strategy such as waiting on a starting QB, but making it a hard and fast rule is asking for trouble. Every draft is different, and you have to be ready to change gears when things don't go as planned.

So it was a good move then? cool.

If your rankings support it, then it's a good move. If you had McNabb ranked as the 14th QB in the league then it was probably a bad move. :)
