Otis' baked pumpkin thread has brought to light a great divide in the fruiting world. It is time to settle the score.

Just like Ghostbusters, you get to choose the form of your destroyer. Pies, muffins, drinks, cookies, etc....whatever you prefer.

Only, choose wisely. The fate of the baked desserts world rests in your hands, FFA.

McDonald's apple pie is one of the greatest things on Earth. At least it used to be. I don't think I've had one in 15 years. I can't think of one thing I like pumpkin in.

Pumpkin pie slightly below Apple pie on a strictly one-time basis. Daily? Apple pie.

Pumpkin vs Apple? unless we're blowing them up with m-80s... no contest. Not even close. Goofily far apart.

I just want to go on record as saying this poll is entirely off-point from the pumpkin thread. That thread was focused on BAKED goods. Of course I'm not gonna go walking down the street munching on a raw pumpkin, or eating sour pumpkin flavored candy. But when it comes to baked goods, apple vs. pumpkin is the equivalent of milk chocolate vs. dark chocolate -- one of these is clearly a class above, and it's not close.

Pumpkin isn't a flavor. The 'pumpkin' taste is a mix similar to the spice mix in pumpkin pie. When 'pumpkin' is available (fall) it's king. But apple is so versitile that's it's the better fruit.

Is pumpkin even a fruit?

Pumpkin is to turkey as apple is to chicken.

ETA: ####, the spock streams crossed again. EVERYONE HEAD TO YOUR BUNKERS STAT!!!

Pumpkin crisp?

Pumpkin cider?

Pumpkin turnovers?

Candied pumpkins?

Pumpkin sauce?

Does any of the above even exist? Thought not.

Need I go on?

Not true about chocolate IMO. Different but both delicious if you're buying good quality.

Never been a fan of most apple things. Liked applesauce ok as a kid. Only thing I could stand now is an apple fritter. But take most things with dough, the right spices, deep fried and glazed and it could be good.

Manderfield's Pumpkin Pie in my hometown though is just so freakin good.

I definitely prefer pumpkin in some forms.

I'm with Otis - stuff with pumpkin in it crushes stuff with apple in it. If you ask the question the way it's stated, no #### that it's a landslide for apple. No one is going to snack on a pumpkin.

This. Pumpkin spiced <anything> is overplayed and annoying.Pumpkin sliced latte? Nasty.

Pumpkin spiced beer? Very few good ones.

Pumpkin needs spice to make it taste good. Apples are delicious on their own.
