PUNK Music Draft - Now Ongoing post awesome punk songs thread (1 Viewer)

A few years ago, yeah. Or 2017. I heard it. It was good.
I am pretty sure I heard it and liked it a bit. Back when I was assembling these fairly large annual  best of the year playlists on Spotify, I am positive now that I included The Sonics. The Monkees had a couple sweet tunes too.

I mentioned it in one of the "Best Album Of 201[ ]" lists when it came out. You should participate in those if you have the time. You're pretty up on stuff.

Didn't they (maybe just Lind) recently put out a new album that was well received?
they put out a solid record with new material 3 or 4 years back.  We saw them tour behind it and it was an incredible show.  The next time they passed through town, the old guitar and keyboard players had been replaced by younger guns--the guy on keys had some very impressive neck tattoos.  Still a great show in a smaller venue.  We missed them when they played here a couple of months ago.

Yeah, I always post albums for the end of the year but during the year lately I am just not keeping up on new music chronologically. I catch something here and there. Then, I usually cram stuff in at the end of the year when I have a bunch of time off work in December/January.

Figure I'll grab my cover.  Probably my favorite Misfit's song covered by one of my favorite bands when I was first getting into punk music.  I've seen No Use live a bunch of times, and they always covered a Misfits song.  I've never seen the Misfits live, but their songs make for a fun pit.  My favorite show of theirs was in my favorite venue of all time The Living Room in Goleta, CA outside Santa Barbara.  Small venue that maybe fit 200 people max and had dingy sofas lining the walls.

RIP Tony Sly

Makes total sense.

Just looked up the Sonics. It was 2015. I was still in CT, now that I think about it. Time flies. (Not spotlighting Gorilla Biscuits songs!)

Great. And I just used No Use For A Name last night as a band I wasn't into. But I did like them, and love this song by the Misfits.

eta* I owned Carne Con Leche

eta2* Or Leche Con Carne -- I can't remember

Yea I noticed that, all good (different strokes and all). :)   Their first three albums were all solid IMHO, but then they got a lot softer.

I've steered clear of Pop-Punk so far because its 90s-00s heyday is outside of my comfort zone.  But I heard this song on a videogame soundtrack and dug its anthemic chorus as I pretend skateboarded.  Go ahead, flame me.

Hey, I'm thinking of updating the sheet but don't know if it's local or global. Don't want to put in all that sorting for nothin'

Any help here?

I think Jzilla was on to something with his own playlist.  If most everyone is on Spotify, it's simple for drafters to maintain their own local list and drag them over to the master list.  Keeping a personal long list might also keeping from forgetting that perfect song I thought about a couple of days ago.  Maybe next draft.

Thread search works well enough after the update to make the draft list irrelevant.  To be honest, I haven't looked at it.  I've either listened to the list or have been in the thread.

Yeah, I've begun to tidy it just for format's sake. May just do it to have a centralized place to look and search. I don't think many of us are looking at it, nor need to. It's a very specific draft with very specific stuff.

Thanks, Eephus, and Happy Thanksgiving.

Sheet is updated. Look to see what picks you owe. First post. Love you guys, so I'm not calling anybody out, everyone has their #### going on, and it gets confusing, and is a whole ton of work. I'll help in the future, too.

Peace, bro hymns.

eta* Oh, aside from song links. When I get motivated, I'll go back through for those.

No worries. Life comes first.
Yep. I was just letting you know because I'm always in this thread, read it all, and there may be things people miss.

That's all.  Great list, by the way, clicked the link. I love the Jett pick last round. What television show did that lead off, BTW? Malcolm and The Middle, maybe?

Freaks and Geeks.

Martin Starr in that was so classic.

eta* took me a sec. No Google.

Because they blur the line between punk and hip hop
I personally think the pick is fine; I don't think anybody would have given you #### about it. I like the Transplants, love Tim, love the whole thing, still think that Garnier Fructis commercial is hard to beat. Wooh Woooh.

Saw these guys on a side stage at some festival years ago and dug them.  Bought their record.

I saw Transplants open for the Foos back then.. Travis Barker on drums.. I can't remember even really liking or hating the show.  I did dig the tune, haven't heard it in forever

I was also introduced to Cave In at that show and I'm still a Brodsky bro

My senior year of high school was great. Not too much work to be done and by the time lacrosse season came along, it was all about party time. Well, as much partying as a straight edger can do. Anyway, I was a huge fan of these guys since 9th grade. I was too young to really enjoy their first two albums, although their second album is probably one of the best to be put out ever.

So they are playing MSG and me and a few buddies get tickets. But we have a lacrosse game that night and cant take a train or we will be too late. Luckily, my mom drove us in and hung out until it was time to leave. Shout out to ma dukes, she had the Ill Communication.

So these guys might be the exact opposite of The Offspring. I bet you would have a difficult time finding someone to say these guys put on a bad show. Might be the second most fun band I have ever seen. I saw these guys at Tramps and just left with a smile on my face. Have their first album on BYO first pressing. Might not be on a lot of peoples lists of greatest bands, but I doubt anyone would ever say they hate the Souls. In fact, this was the band it has been most difficult to pick a song from, because they have so many good ones.

Nice, I might just draft them again

This song was on my short list. Good pick.
