Punta Mita anyone? (1 Viewer)

Heading there Saturday for a much needed break.  Friend has a sweet condo in the gated section next to the Four Seasons and St. Regis.  2 Nicklaus golf courses.  Just going to do beach, pool, golf, read, massages, beer, tequila, rinse/repeat.  Checking out restaurants and whether it makes sense to go into Puerto Vallarta proper or Sayulita.  If anyone has recommendations (other than update beneficiary on life insurance policies) please send.  Never been.  Muchas gracias

What happened to Bushwood?

I went there many years ago for my buddies wedding at the Four Seasons.  The property is so beautiful that you really don't need to go anywhere else.  We basically did all of the stuff you mentioned--but I'm not a golfer--so I ended up enjoying the tennis facilities.  One thing that I remember (but the name is eluding me)--is that we took a fairly short boat ride to this island that was known for having amazing seafood at ridiculously good prices--and it definitely delivered those things.  You'll have a great relaxing time.

You'll love it. I've written about it a little in the PV thread. I first spent time there in the mid 80s. Back then very little was developed. Now the only open space other than golf courses is a big piece of acreage owned by Bill Gates. It's not a private playground for the ultra wealthy, more like a private hideaway, which is preferable sometimes. It's awesome how much paradise is behind the gates. No need to bother with Puerto Vallarta or Nuevo.  As long as you can afford it, enjoy it. If the budget needs a break head north to Sayulita. It's been a couple years since I've been so Google can probably give better dining advice but I sort of monitor the area online and through friends who've retired there. It will get you thinking like Loreto did.

Thanks gents. Will report back.  The condos look phenomenal.  Las Terrazas.  Pacifico.  They have a concierge onsite that takes care of everything.  Recommended and booked the restaurants below.  Set up tee times and the snorkeling trip to Marietas islands.  Mix in a few massages and a lot of cocktails and I'll be good.

Little town right there.  No need to go into Vallarta.
Yes a very down to earth little town considering it's proximity to the peninsula. Judge, that itinerary looks great. If you enjoy paddle boarding, the break outside Hotel Cinco in that little town can be phenomenal for long long bunny slope level wave ride. If you've never seen Marieta island with the hole in it, the photography is pretty astounding but crowds can really take away from an amazing place. Snorkeling is as good or better in the coves sort of northwest of the Four Seasons private villas. Conditions change so who knows but just thought I'd mention those coves. I'm pretty jealous this morning.

my really good friend is there as we speak.  he's been there all week.  i'd be happy to put the two of you touch if you'd like.  i'm pretty sure he has hit at least half of what's on your list.

You left coasters seem much more amicable to vacationing in Mexicp than us East coasters.  If I suggested to my wife that we go to Punta Mita for, say her 50th birthday, she'd assume I had just upped her life insurance and was looking for a way to trade her in for 2 25's without the messy divorce.

OK. Don’t tell her it’s Mexico. Tell her you’re going to an exclusive tropical peninsula. 80 degrees in January. Beautiful sunsets. 5 Star. 2 hotels in the gated compound. Four Seasons and St Regis.  2 Jack Nicklaus courses. Private beaches. Less than 10 people on a mile stretch of pure white sand beach today. Phenomenal restaurants. Going to a 4 course tasting menu Friday with a visiting 3 Star Michelin Chef.

Can’t recommend this place highly enough if you’re looking for a relaxing vacation. This isn’t a Senor Frogs Cancun Spring Break kind of place. If you want action this isn’t it though I’m sure you can venture into Puerto Vallarta for that if needed.

Saw 30-40 whales on an excursion today (had the whole boat to ourselves). Will post pictures later. A few feet from our boat. Awesome. Golf is great. Food is terrific. Everything in golf cart proximity.
