Pregame there were reports online from observers that Kaep connected twice with Torry Smith on about a 50 yard pass. If you think Gabbert can do that I got some ocean front property in Arizona I would like to sell you.
There is no ocean front property in Arizona-

I'm happy someone quoted this, just shows how clueless this guy is.

Connected on a 50 yard pass warming up, TWICE!!! OMG!!!

Let me help you out, as I assume you've never played a real sport in your life and have no idea about any of this stuff.

Connecting on some route running passes like what you describe above is something every QB, 2nd stringer, & practice squad QB at the NFL level could do with their eyes closed.

But wait, it gets better - this pass could be completed by about 99% of collegiate QBs at any level and 35-40% of HS QBs.

So astute observation per usual - a guy being paid $12M can throw a ball 50 yards during warm ups.

I don't think this is particularly impressive? If we used this stuff as a measure Alex Tanney and Jamarcus Russell would be HOFers. I just posted what Kelly said, and I think that was consistent with off season reports and what happened in preseason. Gabbert has beat Kaep all year long. I'm not saying Kelly won't make a switch but there are reasons why players get on the field.

I'm emailing Joe to see if he can include warm up stats going forward.  This is gonna be huge.

In related news:

Backup point guard hits 7of10 3-pointers in pregame.

Utility infied smacks 2 homers in BP.

...actually those feats are probably more impressive than two(!) 50 yard completions.

Who said it was impressive? Just pointing out that Kaep has the arm that Gabbert doesn't. Have you noticed that Torrey Smith has become a complete non-factor in the passing game? That is because Gabbert can't throw the deep ball and why Smith didn't get one catch last night, while slot receiver Kerley led in targets and receptions.

I connected on a 45 yard nerf football bomb to my brother the other day.  I could at least make third string with that I figure. Time to suit up.

#49ers and QB Colin Kaepernick are closing in on a restructured contract to alleviate concerns regarding injury guarantees, source said.

The reworked Colin Kaepernick contract, which could be done today, would include giving him an opportunity to void after this season

Strangely enough Christian Ponder continues to hang around as third string. Wonder why that is.
One of life's imponderables. :hophead:

CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco reports there is "some support" in the 49ers' locker room for Christian Ponder to take over at quarterback.
It sounds like Colin Kaepernick isn't showing well on the practice field, and the 49ers' players are obviously and understandably souring on Blaine Gabbert, who has been horrific through five games. After Thursday night's loss to the Cardinals, coach Chip Kelly was noncommittal on sticking with Gabbert under center. "Ponder is the best option for quarterback on the roster," said one locker-room source. Another player "questioned Kaepernick's commitment" to football as he pursues civil-right ventures. One source told Maiocco that Ponder has been "more consistent" than Kaepernick in practices.

- Sounds like that's been a big issue after all. I see very little incentive for the 9ers to let an underconditioned QB who likes to run on to the field at the risk of millions.

Yes, but isn't that also the Kelly offense? With the Eagles, DJax and Foles were great, then they were gone, and the offense became a short range dumpoff-fest. That's how he likes it.

Christian Ponder never needs to do anything on the field ever again.  Just go home and thank your lucky stars you are married to Sam Ryan, Christian.  You win.

Guess he's a starting QB again.

Traded for him in a dynasty league a few weeks back for next to nothing.  Happy to have him.  Good kid.
He plays well this week, maybe next week...

However, I'm excited for the implosion after the feel good is over, which should be in 2-3 weeks.

Thinking him (or Gabbert) gives SF the inside track to the number 1 pick.

Maybe not surprising that none of them gave us this update:

#49ers coach Chip Kelly announces that they are making a QB change:

Colin Kaepernick is now the starter.
Short answer: So what? What does his being a starter have to do with the taking a knee conversation?

Longer: I'm with Ginsburg in that I feel his actions are disrespectful to what the flag represents to most people. That said I applaud what he's trying to accomplish. I just think he using the wrong vehicle. I wish him no ill will. The fact that he's a starter again in no way shape or form changes the issue. I'm certainly not rooting against him to fail.

Except they've already won a game, something I'm not so sure Cleveland will be able to do.

I think it's going to be a nasty welcome for him in Buffalo.  Ryan has that defense playing angry.

Same thing it did before, nothing. No one should really care. However, that didn't stop the OP and the other Kaep haters from railing against him for 50+ pages and stating that he should be blackballed (so to speak) from the NFL and not be allowed to even be rostered on another team as a backup QB, let alone start another game.

Hearing a lot of people call for this, I'm a contrarian on this one. I think he'll play well in his first game... I just know he won't be able to sustain it.

& yes, there is some formidable competition for that number one pick, but they're def a contender along with Chicago. I think the Browns can win 2 or 3 games.

No chance the 49ers win more than another two games. They've got a top 3 locked up.

3-13 is best case for them, I could see 2-14, although I'm really rooting for 1-15.

Not read the entire thread, but Alex I will take 'what has no one in this thread has said' for $200.

Why do people quote this guy?

Pretty sure his quote is as accurate as his Doctor Detroit stalking him on Twitter quote, although he is welcomed to find somewhere in this thread where someone said he should be blackballed ("so to speak").

Not being good enough <> blackballed.
