This was discussed for numerous pages without the issue of race.   The issue which was discussed and is in the OP is about standing for the national anthem.  The race issue is a diversion.  The race issue was not a point made by his critics.
See the Shark Pool thread. That is about all they can talk about. And the bottom line is, he is taking a stand (so to speak) against racism in this country. You just can't talk about his sitting during the anthem without also touching on his motives, otherwise you are operating in a vacuum.

Check out the Twitter hashtag #VeteransForKaepernick and notice how many of the tweets are from African Americans who have served in the military and how they do feel race does indeed have a lot to do with the reaction to Kaep's protest.

What does that have to do with this thread? I could not care less what people in the shark pool are saying about this.

Subject matter under discussion is the same, Bucko.

No matter how much you post this stuff trying to force people to your side, it's not going to work. Keep fighting the good fight tho

This has to be the most boring pro-patriotism narrative ever, and the most boring counter-narrative ever.

What a freaking cesspool, jerks.   :deadhorse:

First off, exactly.  This thread was about the anthem and had zero to do with race.  Second off, there still has not been a legitimate point against the anthem except for some phobia about nationalism.  You are not carrying anybody.
:lmao:

Too apathetic to read the entire thread, but if Kaepernick were to shine a bright light on the forfeiture laws in places like Oklahoma, I'd buy a jersey.

Thieves and thugs gotta go.

This would be awesome. If I had NFL talent, I would be civil liberties Kaep.

"I refuse to stand for the anthem for a country with our civil forfeiture laws, warrantless wiretaps, tax code that rewards desirable behavior and federal overreach of state's rights through withholding of grant funds."

having spent most of my life in Green Bay, i will say this about the "thugs" comments every time an NFL player gets in trouble..

often i'll hear people (particularly kids) talk in glowing terms of how "cool" players must be. or they're edgy. they look tough.they look like gang members. they look scary. women will say a player looks like the boy your mom would want you to date, etc.

fact of the matter is that the vast majority of these guys are from small towns. they're from country towns. they have dedicated their entire life to football. they aren't "thugs". they're nerds. they're meatheads with lots of money.  bro's writ large.

but because much of the league is black, every time a player gets in trouble he's a "thug" or a "gang member" or a menace to society in some way. fact is, he's a country bumpkin who got rich and drove drunk. that makes him..... pretty normal.... except he has money and anything he does wrong is going to get reported on the news and beaten to death by angry sports media.

people are going to assign to them whatever personality trait they want. you see them on TV.. you don't know them.. they can be anything a person wants to fit the storyline they've invented in their head.

Darren Sharper is a great case in point given his recent imprisonment. he was WILDLY popular here during his playing career. all the women loved the guy... from a distance. he was so handsome and well spoken and blah blah blah. nobody would have called the guy dangerous or scary, whatever. turns out he's a sexual predator.  (women i know who knew him and were the same age as he during his playing career knew he was not to be left alone with then)

Josh Brown beats his wife bloody 20 times and, well, we're not entirely sure she didn't have it coming

You spent most of your life in Green Bay?

This guy is torpedoing his career. Even a hint of race issue will keep him from even sniffing a tryout with another team. His current team will keep him around for a bit until this issue falls by the wayside, then they'll quietly cut him. At that point, maybe he pops up in the CFL or something.

Way to be redundant and irrelevant all in the same post.

Grown-### adults actually care that a backup QB isn't standing up for the national anthem? :lmao:
According to the shark pool thread, it is an offense punishable by death.  Have to keep the punks, thugs, lowlifes and ungrateful sheets in their place.

Very well stated.

Case in point..Jonathan Martin is gone and Richie Incognito is going strong...

Has anyone suggested the theory that maybe he realizes his playing career is not going to last much longer and this is just a way to try and garner some publicity for a career post-football?

and he got savaged for saying it but he's right

when i was growing up the way people would say it was "he's a cool guy, he's not a n******. there's a difference, you know. there are n****** and there are 'brothers'. that guy is one of the brothers"

can't say it that way anymore. so instead people say "thug" or "he's well spoken" to indicate dangerous vs. safe.

OJ was "well spoken".  he cut two people's heads off.
