Did I wake up in GMTAN or was this the place we defended a guy that wore pigcop socks and wouldn't stand for the anthem?

(I don't care that he didn't stand for the anthem. I just think that any dissent being shouted down as a hot take is ridiculous -- as ridiculous as the military displays this weekend)
not sure what you want from me.

this is for you:  https://vimeo.com/181520274

The irony of them putting in Kaep to take a knee at the end of the game does not escape me.  Wish he had his white pigs socks on, those are cool for a guy who never has to work another day in his life.  Then again, more than half of NFL players are broke five years after they leave the league, mostly because of child support.  I feel sooooooooooo bad for them.

Just say it's not a good idea to have the leader of your movement being 25-year-old concussed jocks.

The optics are not going to be good.

Those socks are cool for someone that is donating a million dollars to charities focused on racial issues

Yeah, touche.  Only fail.

Do you like the Sex Pistols?  Sometimes we don't care.

eta* You think a Bakersfield troll, a counter-narrative guy, and burley are worth any time? I'm surprised you have a following, frankly.  Post more kids getting hurt, scotch.
you have about 106 posts responding to them and taking jabs at them. But by all means, tell us again about how they aren't worth any time.

How's that?
The raised fist salute consists of raising one arm in the air with a clenched fist. The meaning can vary based on context.

Different movements sometimes use different terms to describe the raised fist salute: amongst communists and socialists, it is sometimes called the red salute, whereas amongst black rights activists, especially in the United States it has been called the Black Power salute.

It's Mexico '68 with the track and field guys, and it's clearly black power. Anybody here arguing any differently is either dense or naive.

Fun fact: John Carlos left his gloves back at the Olympic Village before the ceremony.  It was silver medalist Peter Norman's idea for Carlos and Tommie Smith to share gloves, which is why Smith is raising his right hand and Carlos is raising his left.  Both Carlos and Smith gave eulogies and were pallbearers at Norman's funeral a few years ago.

Maybe we, collectively,  should all stop focusing on race and just realize that we're all human beings, and we only get 1 go of it here.

My wife doesn't want our kids being 49er fans. Her dad HATES Kaepernick!

This too shall pass.  I feel for your father-in-law if he gets that enraged by Kaepernick's protest.  He's gonna stroke out if this thing catches fire and crosses more sports lines. Already we've had womens soccer thrown in the mix and Adam Jones is giving at least lip service to the general idea of the protest over in MLB.  I can see this movement picking up steam this fall and that on top of the most contentious Presidential election I can remember may cause dear old dad to lose his lid completely.

Oh yea...fighting for their civil rights...I can see how you would think that was racist.

I know that when I become a grandfather, when it comes to my grandchildren, the first thing I'm going to lose sleep over is what sports team they root for.

I think you misunderstand the concept of being equal......How would you feel if white players were standing and making a gesture that was in support of white power?
i would probably feel just as embarassed for them as i would for anyone who tried to argue that the two things were euqivalents take that to the bank bromigo

My FiL was a very high ranking FDNY member, he is an actual hero who has saved dozens of lives and lost a bunch of his men on 9/11, maybe 9/11 means something more to me than others

Dude was on his day off and raced in on a rig as the towers were burning, he was crossing the Brooklyn Bridge with two other off-duty guys as people just like us were running for their lives. As they were crossing the bridge, the first tower came down.

What have you internet SJW's done IRL? Serious question... I actually asked Roadkill weeks ago and never received a response.

After attending a 9/11 memorial on Sunday, I spent the day drinking here http://i.imgur.com/IRwO6fp.jpg You can say it is a safe bet that of 371 firefighters that lost their lives on 9/11, each one of them had a friend in this room. How do you think they feel about someone kneeling during the National Anthem on 9/11? Hint - it is a rhetorical question.

I would do anything to have one of you schleps come speak this stuff IRL to this room of heroes on a 9/11 anniversary.

I feel sorry for all of the successful black people... Here they thought they were like everyone else and earned their positions in life and the respect that comes with it...But apparently not, according to Sconch and others it must have been given to them....I mean them being oppressed and all, how else would they have achieved it...

Yes, that is EXACTLY what I'm saying.  Nailed it.  100% spot on.

This must be trolling. Must. resist. urge.

JFC, I'm talking simply about the act of not standing for the National Anthem. I think it is disgustingly disrespectful to America. I'm not trying to have a discussion on race, I'm talking strictly of the act.

There are numerous ways to protest and I'm fully aware of social inequalities in this country, I just find this way highly distasteful.

Furthermore, these people all of have social followings that add up to 10's (if not 100's) of millions of people, pretty simple to deliver any message they please. With their status in society, pretty easy for them to accomplish quite a lot without sitting during a song that is supposed to represent unity.

But this brought it national, rather than just followers. I'll give him that. He sparked a national discussion, pig cop socks and all. (I hated that, by the way.)

see the thing is bromigo is that as strongly as you feel about people not standing up during the anthem is probably the same as how strongly the people not standing up feel about the state of race relations in the usa so as powerful as you feel the anthem is and as such people should stand up for it the converse is true about the power of a statement made by not standing up for it and in my opinion just my two cents take that to the bank signed swd
