As I wrote in a couple of other threads today...

A lot of us fell asleep last night, if you missed it, CK entering the game with 2:30 minutes last night...look I understand the Rams appear like the worst team in the NFL right now but give Chip Kelly credit for his leadership and also finding a great moment to get CK on the field and for the SF fans who stood behind him and with him(Lots of his posters around the stadium), I teared up a little, what a great moment for San Fran and their city. What a nice way for Chip Kelly to apply aloe vera to a vicious SF sunburn over the last 12-24 months, so happy for all the fans there.

The air might go out of the balloon quickly but I think I like the way the team gel together and it just felt really good. by putting CK into the game it stops a lot of questions and I think it was great for the fans there. You won't see this discussed on a lot of media outlets but job well done Chip Kelly, I'm slightly impressed.

And my larger point in this thread is, If his teammates, coaches, and fans can deal with it then so should we. I didn't like what he did at first and it really bothered me. But judging by the reaction of many of the players it seems he was not alone. If 4-5 guys on every team want to participate actively in this manner, you're talking about close to 10% of the league and that number could double if some still feel like there is a stigma attached to protesting(there is).

I had little respect for Boomer Esiason the Broadcaster but this kinda seals it, and Trent Dilfer...are F'n Kidding me? Where is @Capella at? Should we play the game tapes and re-run all the local radio in Tampa on the day after Week 1 in 1999? It was Sept 13th, 1999 and the Bucs had finished 8-8 year prior after going 10-6 in '97. Everyone knew the Bucs defense was top notch and Dilfer could not move the team worth a spit, his play was getting worse and worse each week and one of the local radio hosts named Steve Duemig or something like that, 1st thing out of his mouth on afternoon drive home show was "Cut the head off the snake NOW!"

Trent Dilfer is one of the worst in the booth/studio ever. He thinks he's really smart and that's not helping. Get over yourself Trent, you were not a team guy in Tampa Bay, you were horrible and you impeded the progress of that team. Any decent QB who would have inherited the Bucs circa '97-'03 would have won 3 Super Bowls easily. Dilfer and Shaun King until finally Brad Johnson arrives, a mediocre QB but efficient in certain systems.

I guess you and I think differently, Donkey Derp.  Intentionally calling for the lynching of black middle schoolers because they dare kneel during the anthem is kind of wicked in my book and is one step removed from returning to the segregation era south.  It also highlights that race issues are still alive and well in this country, unfortunately.

Good job Colin Kaepernick your message got through loud and clear as three police officers in Phoenix were run down on purpose by a black man. #### the police...right. This is what you get when you send false messages.

If this guy did this based on Kaepernick's 'message' there's a slight possibility that he's almost as tone deaf as you are

I'm not superior, nor am I trying at all to change their names. The board software is doing it -- you can type in burley or scotch and the same thing will happen take that to the bank brogan. And weren't you changing my name to snotaction a while before this all happened?

Mr. Furley. Scotch. I can't just type in burley or scotch or it changes the name.

And I am attacking them because they're ridiculing people with opposite opinions. Maybe I should let those people stick up for themselves, but I'm sick of it.  burley was whining to Joe about moderation in the political forums and scotch is just a troll four names over. It irritates me, that's why.

No hard ones, and I have to go to the bank later so I'll think of the old SWC'er.
i can't speak for Sconch but i'm mocking you because your opinions aren't just terrible or incorrect but they are are also narrow minded, unconscionable and childish.

oh man i am the king of changing names i do not like to brag but around these parts i am known for making up a pretty good nickname now and again such as randall the touchdown robber cobber and travis the flying burrito kelce and here is the thing if either one of those guys knelt down during the national anthem i would say hey not what i would do but i would at least be willing to say ok i get it the issue they are raising is one that needs to be addressed but this thread started off with a bunch of guys getting all holier than thou and imagining that in the history of the usa no one has ever used the anthem to raise a valid political point which is just wrong and wishing nothing but ill on the guys doing the protesting so scancharelli and furley and me a little rightly made fun of the absurdity of the absolutism of the guys being larooshes and that is a valid response i think when someone goes way over the line in an opposite direction but hey just my opinion take that to the bank bromigo
:goodposting:

Maybe the patriotic thing to do is to stop degrading our nation's military personnel by associating them with the fooking dip####s who run the NFL.

I find the non-sequiturs in this thread to be, quite frankly, truly depressing, & revealing...

eta:  @Kafka is an expert on non-sequiturs

Classic that my buddy ended up right in front of Kap on Monday night for the National Anthem, that could have been me but who the hell wants to go to an American style football game. I love all of the photographers in the background trying to get the perfect shot, hey #######s why is it ok for you not to stand patriotically and observe the national anthem.

Yet they get super offended by how politically incorrect Kaepernick is.

I'm kind of tired of this whole debate, but that snake t-shirt is flipping awesome! Pretty much sums up my views on everything. :ptts: Merry Christmas, beaches.

Colin Kaepernick rips ESPN's Trent Dilfer for saying backup quarterbacks should keep quiet

One day after former Baltimore Ravens quarterback and current ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer said Colin Kaepernick should be quiet because he is a backup quarterback, Kaepernick fired back and called Dilfer's words "ridiculous."

On Sunday, during ESPN's "Sunday NFL Countdown," Dilfer took umbrage at Kaepernick's decision to kneel during the national anthem to protest police brutality and social injustice.

Dilfer said:

"And the big thing that hit me through all of this was this is a backup quarterback whose job is to be quiet and sit in the shadows and get the starter ready to play Week 1. Yet, he chose a time when he became the center of attention. And it has disrupted that organization. It has caused friction and torn the fabric of the team."

On Monday night, after the 49ers beat the Rams, 28-0, in their season opener — the only shutout of Week 1 —Kaepernick did not hold back when asked by reporters to respond to Dilfer's words.

"I think that's one of the most ridiculous comments I've heard," Kaepernick said. The fact [Dilfer] says, 'You are a backup QB, stay in your place,' that's an issue."

Kaepernick continued:

"To me, you are telling me that my position as a backup QB and being quiet is more important than people's lives. I would ask him to really have a conversation with the families of people that have been murdered and see if he still feels that way. Because I bet that he doesn't, just because he hasn't experienced that type of oppression.

"I hope he goes home and really thinks about what he said and how it impacts not just [him], but how it impacts people whose lives are affected by these issues on a daily basis."

Dilfer's comments on Sunday were met with criticism almost immediately. Randy Moss, who sat next to Dilfer during his diatribe, made a face, which instantly went viral.

Tim Kawakami of The San Jose Mercury News took the criticism of Dilfer a step further, suggesting in a column on Monday that Dilfer was acting as a mouthpiece for 49ers general manager Trent Baalke. (Dilfer and Baalke are well-known friends.)

On Monday night, Kaepernick and teammate Eric Reid both knelt during the national anthem. On the other side of the field, members of the Los Angeles Rams stood with their fists in the air.

dilfer never even put up numbers equal to a back up qb so maybe he should never talk again man what a doofus take that to the bank brohans

that's the next line of defense,  your status/position in life dictates whether you should have an opinion or not.  "he's just a backup QB"/"he's just a dumb football player"/"he's only talking because of his girlfriend".

can't wait til we find out that his adopted dad bounced a check in college... therefore invalidating his opinions, too.

Photographer lives matter

It was mentioned, a few times.  My wife opened my eyes to a number of things thanks to her having walked a very different path during her life.  Good for them.

Dilfer doubled down on that saying when he was a backup in Seattle, he became aware of child slavery and it was a big issue to him. But he didn't say anything about it because he didn't want to distract Matt Hasselbeck lol.

“It became a passion of ours to help fight this battle of childhood slavery around the country and I had a very big platform in Seattle and I could have leveraged being a Seattle Seahawk, being a NFL quarterback, done a lot to get that message out there, but I chose not to at the sake of not wanting to disrupt the team and I didn’t want to draw attention to myself, and I didn’t want to take it away from Matt, the rest of our team and our preparation to win.”

I'm sure all those children were so happy that Dilfer wanted to make sure his team went 9-7 that season instead of trying to bring an issue to light. Brave man there Trent!

Wonder if Dilfer was cool with Paterno not saying anything about Sandusky because he didn't want to upset the team dynamic and his job is winning football games.

Again, Trent.....49ers won 28-0, the only team to pitch a shut-out.  Might just shut it on the 'disrupting team unity' front.

Shows you what a joke this whole issue is.

wait a cotton-pickin' minute, partner.  his girlfriend is telling him what to do?  that's the worst part of this whole thing, imo.

pfft, listening to women.... WHO DOES THAT? it's 2016 for chrissakes. not 3016.

why doesn't he just pat her on the head and send her back in the kitchen like a real man would?

a real man doesn't consider outside influence, new knowledge or anyone other than himself. that's what makes us men. he should just shut up and do what i tell him to do. i realize those are conflicting statements but this is America we're talking about. as a man i have a right to tell other people what to do.
