QB as flex (1 Viewer)

12 teamer, 1 PPR, 6 pys all Tds, 1 pt/7 yards for WRs, Rbs... strange line up requirements, we start minimum 1 RB(max 2), 3 WR minimum(max 4)..PLUS a flex of QB, WR, RB.

So, I could start 1 QB, 5 WRs, 1 RB...or 2 QBs, 2Rbs, 3WRs, or 2 Qbs, 1 RB, 4WRs or 1 QB, 2RBs, 4 WRs

With Qb as flex, I should be approaching this like a 2 QB league...right? Go QB with 4th pick..then heavy on WRs? Start just 1 RB most weeks?

What would you do?(besides switching leagues..lol)

Looks like the scoring potential for QB vs. RB vs. WR is pretty equal given the scoring system. So the biggest factors to consider are scarcity and consistency (see the Crank Score articles in the pay section). You want to grab where the scarcity will be most pronounced in each round, and look to flex where you get the most consistent points. My guess is that QB will be the most scarce, followed by RB. The articles show that top WR's actually score more consistently than other positions in a PPR, but they are more difficult to project than QB or RB.Your strategy also depends on your draft position, in an auction this would be easier to answer.

I suspect that you'll find that the flex should be QB based on the QB ppg vs WR or RB so yes, if that's true you'll want to approach this like a 2 QB league. QBs will likely go faster than typically as a result. The other thing is that you only play 1 RB if you play QB at flex so you can sleep a little there. I would try to get 2 borderline QB1-2s around round 4/5/6 - drafting ahead of the ADP. And as always don't follow the run. If a QB run starts, that means there is value some where else - likely at WR. If you take a lesser qb, you'll end up taking a lesser wr on the next pass too.

Just to be sure there are NO yardage points for QBs?? Not sure if I missed it or something. If no yardage incentives, I would say it is pretty even and go with RBs...but if there is any yardage potential that was just not listed, I would approach it as a start 2 QB league.

yes QBs get 1 pt/20 yards..I have 4th pick. I'm sure Brees and Brady will be gone...would you take Manning at #4? Last year 8 Qbs went in the 1st 2 rounds.

I play in several start two qb leagues and several super flex which the qb is in play for flex position. The teams with two top 10 qbs are the strongest teams in all leagues. I always see at least 6 to 8 qbs taken in the 1st and 2nd round. I would look at manning or brees and/or brady at #4 pick. Next get your best Rb possible with your 2nd pick if it is a top 5 to 7 rated RB otherwise get a top 5 Wr. The Rb depth will last a long time and with only needing to start 1 Rb you can take more chances on upside lower rated guys. You will need to get your 2nd Qb by no later than the 4 or 5th round if you want a top 8 to 12 type rated Qb as your flex player (Romo,Cutler,Schaub,Palmer,McNabb,Ryan,Garrard) Then fill out the rest of your top 3 Wr's and 2nd Rb pick, add a top 5 TE if possible. After that you can now just draft for best value at any position on the board. You will find that any team that didn't invest into 2 top Qb's will ignore backups till way late, jump in and grab a 3rd Qb fairly early like 11 to 13th round. If you can find a decent one like Hasselback, Campbell,Hill etc. They will cover your bye weeks and will be good trade bait for your team if others have injury or bye week issues. I love having the highest scoring players (QB'S) in a league like this, they are consistant and reliable and will carry you to the playoffs every year. Good luck!

We have a similar lineup and actually had this one but got rid of it. Too many headaches trying to decide each week if you should star flex QB/RB/WR......or go 1/1/5 etc....

We switched it to 1/2/2 with 1 Superflex and this has worked perfectly.

As for planning on starting 2 QB, I haven't tried it myself. QB's always go early in this format in our league, but it seems hardly anybody plans on starting 2 QB's.

All that said, if you have a shot at 2 QB's that average 20+ ppg, GO FOR IT

I love the Super Flex leagues as I think it adds a lot more strategy and lineup flexibility.

I play in one Super Flex league that allows the SF to be any position, including a 2nd Defense. Also, in this league the team defense scoring is robust (usual categories plus sliding scales for yardage and pts allowed) such that it is also a very viable option to start 2 Defenses in a given week to cover injuries or bye weeks. With good advance planning looking at matchups I have many a time enjoyed a winning lineup with 2 Defenses (1 at SF) that each score > 20 pts in a given week.

QBs will go early, but if it is a new league or change in format from a traditional flex league, QBs will go later than they really should and you can exploit this advantage.
