Very debatable IMO

I'd honestly call him top-40. There are some REALLY awful backup QBs in the NFL, Wentz is just not a starting caliber guy, He played really well in his one start for the Rams in 2023, and O'Connell is a McVay disciple. Hell, I'd argue Wentz has shown more good tape than Darnold had prior to last season.

Maybe they were after Wentz all offseason (and he just now agreed to sign), but the timing is interesting.

From what Ive been hearing the Vikings have been in communications with Wentz for a long time.

We will need to say what he says, but it wouldn't surprise me if Wentz just didn’t want to do training camp and the Vikings were one of the few teams he wanted to play for if at all.

I rather see Max Brosmer than Carson Wentz. Wentz practice time with the Viking offense is minimal. I expect them to lose next week.

Darnold was Captain Bust/Never showed much ever and put up 35/12 numbers last year

Kevin O Connell very well may be the best Offensive Mind Wentz has ever been coached by and Jefferson is easily the best WR he will ever throw the ball to.

Darnold was Captain Bust/Never showed much ever and put up 35/12 numbers last year

I kind of see what you mean but then again, after his injury he stunk for the Eagles, Redskins, Colts, and wherever else he's played in the last few years. One crappy system (Like Daniel Jones situation) I could see, he just needed a change of scenery or better coaching/support...but 3 or 4 different teams? I'd say he is what he is at this point.

Brosmer is the QB I would be looking to stash in dynasty here. I wouldn't be surprised if he got some time and passed the carcass of Wentz.

I think Wentz has looked like an utter disaster every time he's backed up and his last year starting was just atrocious. I remember him getting sandwiched in the pocket and still trying to throw this weak-assed thing that was like he burped it up and went right into the arms of a guy barely outside the pocket and it was just befuddling. Anyway, I was already reading quotes about how they were seemingly confident and smiling about the other guy, so buckle up, MN fans—you might be getting a good look at this guy sooner than you think.
