BumpI'm amazed that people are surprised that a guy with a career touchdown to interception ratio of 105 to 14 isn't throwing interceptions.

As a Falcons fan watching this game, the play calling didn't do him any favors. They ran Sankey for a yard, then put him in a crumbling pocket. Where were the roll outs? Let him get out of the pocket and make a play. He's playing against the 2's right? Looked like a deer in headlights against the 1st string defense. It's to soon to judge though obviously.

Marcus Mariota completed 7-of-8 throws for 94 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in his preseason debut Friday night.
Interception-less all camp, Mariota was intercepted in the first quarter by Falcons WLB Justin Durant, who picked off a screen-pass attempt to Bishop Sankey. Mariota rallied on the ensuing drive, showing a connection with Harry Douglas and capping the drive with a six-yard touchdown pass to Dexter McCluster. Mariota's weaponry was pretty poor tonight. The Titans trotted out a three-receiver set of Hakeem Nicks, Douglas, and Kendall Wright.

I don't think the McCluster TD was a pass. Thought it was a backwards toss and run.Rotoworld take:

Michael Robinson: Zach Mettenberger is a starter
Will Zach Mettenberger's performance on Friday night spark the interest of other quarterback-needy teams?
While Marcus Mariota endured a subpar preseason debut in a 31-24 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, the Titans backup quarterback had an impressive outing.
The second-year pro out of LSU connected on 8 of 11 passes for 129 yards, with one touchdown and one interception against the Falcons for a 104.0 passer rating.
His stat line put NFL Media's Michael Robinson on the rather empty Mettenberger hype train.
"Zach Mettenberger is one of the 32 good quarterbacks in this league," Robinson said. "He is a starter. And I think the Tennessee Titans have an issue on their hands. A good issue."
But the superlatives didn't stop there.
"You can just see how the ball pops out of his hands and jumps out of his hands as he throws the ball. He has a strong arm. He has a great understanding of the pocket, great understanding of football concepts. I wouldn't want to be Ken Whisenhunt right now," Robinson added.
Mettenberger produced mediocre numbers last season for the Titans. The QB had an 83.4 rating while passing for 1,412 yards, with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions in seven games.
His rookie performance, though, wasn't impressive enough for the Titans to pass up on Oregon's Heisman Trophy winner with the No. 2 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
While Robinson is high on the second-year QB, Tennessee is in dire need of a spark to its franchise and Mettenberger surely doesn't ignite the fan base clamoring for a resurgence.
Mettenberger was impressive, but his performance won't spark a quarterback competition in Tennessee. However, that doesn't mean other QB-hungry teams won't come calling.
yep, MM won't improve this year. Nor will he utilize his best receiver.Downgrade Wright this year. Poor guy plays with the worst QBs ever.
Wright and Walker are good, the rookies have potential but yeah, overall it's well below average. Not to mention his WR corps is among the worst in the NFLAs a Falcons fan watching this game, the play calling didn't do him any favors. I think you'll be totally wrong here. Not to mention his WR corps is among the worst in the NFL
This is exactly what I wanted to see and he's responding well apparently. Really looking forward to his continued development.Faust said:Titans rookie Marcus Mariota shows some moxie after rough start:

"He's cool, calm and collected, and that's why he's going to be good," Douglas said. "To be so calm when you're so young ... that's greatness right there. That's greatness."
Another bit of information from Pro Football Focus: Mariota was 3-of-3 for 60 yards in passes 10 or more yards down the field, while Winston was just 3-of-11 for 75 yards in that department.

Last week, this week, and week 1. I like that the rook gets three national games in his first 5 weeks. He's got a lot of pressure on him and a national game just adds to it. At least he gets to feel it in preseason to get used to it. Winston tomorrow night too, good for him tooBehind O-line under construction, Marcus Mariota gets national stage vs. Rams:

Agreed. I'm probably more impressed with that than anything else I've seen so far tonight. Very composed under pressure.Command at the line impressive. Has that internal clock.
On that dropped TD to McCluster, Mariota looked like a seasoned vet. He felt the pressure, moved up, threw a strike....Also, that throw on the run (to the right) to the TE? showed great touch.....Im sure we'll see ups and downs this season, but I'm pretty optimistic about this kid.Big step in progress from game 1 to game 2. He looked much more comfortable in the pocket. His TD pass... Err should have been TD pass... To McCluster was a great demonstration of climbing the pocket and keeping his eyes down field. He did revert back on the next drive unfortunately, getting happy feet in the face of the blitz, not stepping into his throw to the flat and throwing pick... Err should have been a pick... To Barron.
I like the progression. Hopefully he continues on this path.
