With the bye week, I am looking at starting Schaub, Slaton, Andre Johnson, and Kevin Walter. I hate to put all my eggs in one basket, even though it is against the Cardinals. If they come out flat, my team's done this week. But if they score, I am sure I will get the points! Has anyone ever tried this?

Back in the day, people TRIED to do this ON PURPOSE.

Warner-Bruce-Holt-Faulk

Manning-Edge-Harrison-Wayne

Young-Hearst-Rice-Owens

It's not the worst thing in the world, and most other owners will have some sort of ***** in the armor with byes or injuries anyway.

It could be worse if you are like me and have to start Orton-Moreno-Marshall-Royal.

I would try to find a replacement at Walter perhaps, but it ain't a bad lineup for a bye week. Wouldn't want to be doing that every week unless it is one of those Juggernaut offenses which produced enough points to go around.

The funny thing about this thread, I thought about it before I opened it and decided before opening that if it wasn't the Texans that I didn't like the idea. Shaub, Slaton,AJ,Walter are all worthy of being in a starting lineup, Walter is sketchy but it depends on your other options, the other 3 are more or less locks every week.

For this week, I like it. 95% of the time it'd be a horrible idea though.

I own a few Texans & it seems every game they are supposed to be in a shootout ends up much lower scoring than expected. They seem to explode in the games that are supposed to be lower scoring, like the Tenn game or the game in GB last year.

Those were fun days....

i've seen people win (or nearly win) leagues with:

cunningham-hoard (lol)-moss-carter

warner-faulk-bruce

gannon-wheatley-tim brown

manning-wayne-clark

can't think of any teams these days that would have the impact of the ones above.

I had the Texan thing going on last year with a FF team. It was the exact same guys. This will produce but 1 of these guys will have a quiet week. That seemed to be the average. I cannot recall having the whole offense shut down. The key is Schaub- if he produces you will have a great Sunday

I did see a team last year that regularly played Warner/Fitz/Boldin/Breaston and did very well . . . until the NE game in the snow (which was also the league SB week).

Loading up on one team is fine against a weak opponent, but a good defense or rough weather could kill you in those situations. Also, an injury to the QB could also spell doom in having a backup come in and deflate the offense.

The HOU guys against ARI should be ok this week though . . .

This was not on purpose...but i'll take it  vs TBMcNabbWestyAkersPhil DST
Will substitute as needed vs difficult opponents & injuries...though with Eagles bye week finished already may cruise through rest of schedule if they continue to put up huge point totals. :excited:

Uh, other than perhaps Manning-Wayne-Clark?

well, it is a risky strategy, but if you are on a bye week, I dont mind the strategy. Especially if the team whose players you are starting has a good matchup.basically what you are doing is tying your fate to that of the team. It can make you a very dangerous opponent, even for a very good fantasy team.

I am a fan of having the QB and RB on the same team--they are reverse correlated assets. It makes your team more consistent--you will have the majority of TDs covered and you will get points whether the team is shooting it out or grounding it out. Same is true for RB and WR to a lesser extent.

Having a QB and WR on the same team is a form of leverage. When things go well, you crush. When things go poorly, you get crushed. This is desirable against a superior team.

Having two WRs/TEs on the same team is somwhere in the middle.

I lost out on a championship one year when a guy got knocked out of the playoffs when he scored 7 points in a league where average scores was 100 or so. It was the Seahawks who got shut out that week in the Alexander years.
