QB Strategy (1 Viewer)

I am in a keeper league that has a lot of the best QBs as keepers. Six points for passing and rushing TDs. 1 point for every 25 yards rushing. 1 point for 50 yards receiving.

Is it worth targeting a dual threat QB early when the passing and rushing TDs carry the same value?

Kyler Murray is my keeper QB.

Top non-keeper QBs according to my Footballguys rankings: Burrow (he will be gone), Daniels, Goff, Purdy, McCarthy

Would you stick with Kyler as your starting QB or would you prioritize getting someone like Daniels a little earlier than you normally would to solidify the position a bit. Every time I run a mock draft in the Draft Dominator, my points per game is higher if I take Jayden Daniels in the second round, but that really goes against the way I usually play.

FYI - Keepers are QB - Kyler Murray, Bryce Young, RB - Chase Brown, Bucky Irving, Etienne, and Benson, WR - St Brown, Thielen, TE - Kraft

It's a ppr league and I'm taking the best available WR with my first pick.

If you read all that, Thank you! I will respond to anybody who asks.

Without knowing more I would certainly look to nab Daniels if you can. Brown, Bucky and St Brown is a great start to your team already. Nab BPA round 1 and Daniels in the 2nd and it's a nice squad.

Generally speaking having 6 pts for all TD's typically lowers the rushing QB's a bit in my QB rankings because they don't get the boost of 6 pt rushing TD vs 4 pt passing TD. I don't typically adjust QB's as a whole vs other positions because all QB's get the same scoring so relative to each other nothing really changes (other than rushing guys getting lowered a bit).

Surprised that Daniels isn't kept if your league hoard's QB's as you describe.

Our league started back in the 90s. I know I'm not alone in that we used to get the box score from the USA Today the next morning and figure our scores manually. We didn't have a lot to go on as far as how other people's leagues were structured. We decided that anybody who was drafted in the first nine rounds could not be kept. Anybody drafted after the ninth or not drafted could be kept. So it's more like a modified dynasty. It's been a fun way to play for us and we've never changed it. Some of the strategy of our league is weighing drafting somebody in the ninth round just to keep them out of the keeper rounds vs waiting and hoping you have a chance to get the guy you want. Daniels was drafted in the ninth round, so he wasn't able to be kept.

The big rookies usually don't make it to the keeper round anymore, but guys who are less well known or come out of nowhere end up as keepers. That's how I got Chase Brown and Bucky Irving as keepers.

We started in 1985. Used the LA Times for stats because USA today didn't have the late games in it. Gave the Commish 16 (only 16 weeks back then) self addressed stamped envelopes so he could send you a copy of the weekly results. Simpler times...hahaha

We do something similar but can only keep 1 player. It is anybody drafted (has to be drafted not a FA pickup) after the 9th round (so 10th round is eligible). We also have a caveat that if a player drafted in the first 9 rounds plays in three games or less you can keep them in the round drafted as your lone keeper. I don't think that has ever been used.

Last year I took Hockenson (TE Premium) in the 10th, Jonathan Brooks (11th) and Bucky (13th). I am rolling with Bucky as my keeper this year. I took Brian Thomas in the 9th to block him from being keeper eligible as I had last pick in the 10th round.
