QBBC and 2QBBC (Subscriber content) (1 Viewer)

Thanks. I look forward to this article every year.

I'm not sure if they're typos or if Chase just used last years as a template, but the explanation after the first chart needs work. The references it makes to the data above it seem off, IMO.

I'll give it a re-read in case it's just me.

Good article and big thumbs up for posting all the combinations. I disagree with focusing on Schaub and Garrard for two reasons though. To get that duo, you'll have to spend two picks in the first 9 rounds in most drafts, which defeats the concept of QBBC. Second, if you own both Schaub and Garrard, you're most likely starting Schaub everytime except maybe his two Tennessee games so it's not really a committee.

I don't disagree with targeting that combination at all since Schaub does have a history of injuries and Garrard is a top QB2. But on a PPG basis Schaub is so much better than Garrard that it isn't really a committee to me.

I've used QBBC for last several years. But not sure I will this year because there are 13 QBs that I consider to be QB1, or 14 if you want to put Garrard in that mix. And I see a pretty decent dropoff of either talent or risk after those guys. So you can still get great value by being the last guy in your league to take a QB and end up with a legit QB1.

David,

Those are nice articles. I like it. Will definitely use at my 2 QB draft.

Side question, when will the 163 cheatsheets be updated? I am looking for the 2 QB Catch performance sheets for my draft this weekend.

I prefer not to take my first QB until round 9 or 10, so Schaub is long gone.

I will need to digest where the sweet spot is later...

Overall, Chase does some really strong work on this every year and his research is very helpful. I have to admit, though, that I'm disappointed in the 2QBBC article this year. In the first article, I think he wisely adopts a strategy of decent QBs with good schedules rather than weak QBs with great schedules. Drafting QBs 29 and 30 because they face some weak defenses does not strike me as a sounds strategy (especially considering how likely those QBs are to get benched). Unfortunately, Chase seems to abandon this logic in the 2QBBC article.

Here are the QBs that Chase is basically recommending for 2QBBC:

1. Peyton Manning

2. Kurt Warner

3. Matt Hasselbeck

4. Marc Bulger

5. SF QB

I would toss four of these five names out immediately. Manning and Warner are studs. Bulger runs one of the worst offenses in the league and just broke a finger on his throwing hand. We don't even know who to draft as the "SF QB", and it's unlikely that either Hill or Smith will start 16 games. That leaves Hasselbeck as the only viable committee member -- a decent QB with a soft schedule and a late ADP.

Frankly, I'm not sure how to use this article in my draft. I could target Hasselbeck, but with whom? It looks like Cutler has some easy games, as does Schaub, but in a 2 QB league these guys will go fairly early.

Is Chase's Strength of Schedule for QB's posted somewhere? Or is that now rolled into the USOS? Thanks!

DOH! I guess I can figure out the SOS from the Defense strength charts listed in the article! I was jus looking for the nice schedule grid layout like years past ...
