Qdoba v.Chipotle (1 Viewer)

Quick question: no one actually prefers Qdoba to Chipotle, do they?

I'm sitting in one right now in Chandler, AZ and its just me and one other guy eating here. If I were over at the local Chipotle, the line would nearly reach the door. Also, I'm not sure the employees could be any more disinterested than they appear. Whereas at the Chipotle, they're always happy to serve. So what gives with this place? Is it just a front?

(Disclaimer: I'm long CMG)

In Atlanta there are two other chains I like better - Willy's and Moes. Of the two you mention I like Qdoba better - but I'm not a big fan of either.

Must be the location...the Qdoba's around here are always busy and yes Qdoba is better than Chipotle. Not a huge difference but I like their Salsa's better and they have queso sauce.

There are more Qdoba's around here. I only know of one Chipotle and Qdoba is closer to me, on my way home from work as well sometimes. They are basically the same so I don't see going out of my way for Chipotle. Either are okay when in a hurry and "Mexican" food is desired.

I actually know a few Chipotle people and they joke that they tried to do a queso at Chipotle but couldn't get it to work without filling it with chemicals and that's not their thing. That said, I like the queso at Qdoba as well as their green salsa. However, if I'm not going queso the quaity of the meat at Chipotle is way better than Qdoba is.

This was the primary difference that I noticed.

Maybe a Qdoba fan can recommend something as I just had some chicken tacos with medium salsa. Taco bell wouldn't have necessarily been better, but the difference would've been negligible and would've edged out the Q based on pricing.

My usual at Chipotle is a half-barbacoa, half-chicken salad with pinto beans, corn salsa and a pinch of cheese, with that delicious dressing they have. You're welcome.

At Qdoba my go to is a Chicken Queso with pinto beans and green salsa. (rice and cheese as well of course). If you want it extra rich, add sour cream.

Black beans >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> pinto beans

C'mon guys.

I used to think that way too when I was young. Then I had the CMG pinto beans that I had previously sworn off. They're cooked with bacon.

Ate at Chipotle twice. It was tasty - but I was running to the bathroom within 30 min each time.

Now, they apparently use "natural" ingredients, but animal lard and bacon grease are natural as well - and none of the aforementioned is actually healthy for you (well, bacon grease maybe). I checked out the "nutritional" value for Chipotle and almost fell off the chair - talk about fattening.

I'm more a fan of Moes, it doesnt destroy my insides and, for those on Long Island, the best chain BY FAR is Green Cactus. All truly fresh ingredients and a full range of options from healthy to well, less healthy. Closest thing to an LA style fresh burrito place I've had on the east coast.

The lack of queso cheese at Chipotle makes this a toss up. Everything else is lopsided in their favor, but it's such a glaring omission it kills me.

Bacon fat is lard. Lard is just pork fat, fyi.

We did this already.

And yes...Qdoba >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Chipotle.

The rice is better, the salsas are better, the chicken actually has flavor.

Chipotle is some of the most overrated stuff there is.

Yeah lines out the door here at lunch time at Qdoba. I prefer them over Chipolte.

Moe's > Chipotle > Qdoba

Qdoba's food is way too salty.
I thought the overabundant salt taste was just in the salsa at first. Then I sampled each component on it's own and noticed everything was a salt lick. Let's not kid ourselves and say Chipotle is low-sodium, but it's not as noticable.

As for the tortillas. I dunno, Q'dobas seemed just like the local grocery store tortillas. Which are manufactured somewhere here in Phoenix. I know this from when the wife makes soft tacos at home. Chipotle's tortillas actually seem a bit thinner and tastier to me.

Lettuce, black beans, vegetables, chicken, medium salsa, guac. What's the problem?

Chipotle has far better quality food. However, they don't have a large variety on toppings, which causes some people to prefer places with cheese dips and such.

Not sure what the question is here Nips.

They recently closed almost all the Qdobas in the Chicago area. I found Qdoba and Chipotle to be about the same.

They are pretty equal so I will go to whichever one is closer at the time.

Taco Del Mar on the other hand, can rot in hell.

All Chipotles are corporately owned and run.

Qboba franchises.

You probably visited a location run by a poor franchisee. The ones around here are pretty good.

These two places are basically identical, so the FFA will turn this into a 10+ page thread on par with whether "dawn" rhymes with "don."

I used to be a huge Qdoba fan until they got rid of the Pablano Pesto. With that gone I prefer Chipotle's Barbacoa to anything Qdoba has but overall I still prefer Qdoba because of their variety (nachos, queso, breakfast burritos) and their superior salsas. Also, Qdoba has possibly my favorite Tortilla Soup I've ever had.

Where's the fattening part? Just don't get the crap.

Love Chipotle. Usually get a salad with extra carnitas, a scoop of pico de gallo, 2 scoops tomatillo salsa, some corn. Stay away from cheese, guac, sour cream, rice and beans. Love it.

Not a Qdoba fan at all. They are closing around here.

I got it without cheese, sour cream even guac. Basically meat, rice, onion, beans, salsa/hot sauce.

But it still ripped through me like Cuse though the ACC this year.
