Quarterbacks - Best Of The Mediocre (1 Viewer)

The list of QB's below are underwhelming due to their own skill-sets, protection, weapons, etc. Who do you think can surpass expectations this year? Why?

Eli Manning

David Garrard

Joe Flacco

Trent Edwards

Kyle Orton

Jason Campbell

Shaun Hill

Marc Bulger

Jake Delhomme

Chad Pennington

This would make a good survey.

I like Garrard's improvement, the addition of Holt and the rookie WRs. So he is my top choice.

I will go Orton second, as he may put up good numbers with that offense and generally gets undervalued.

Finally, I will say Edwards, as per addition of TO.

Garrard - very underrated - we're calling a guy who finished 11th last year mediocre? 16th the year before in part time?

Flacco - Would be in much better shape with Mason around, but he developed nicely across the year - what's funny is that he had a very similar fantasy season to Matt Ryan last year

Edwards - TO helps a ton.

Orton - Better than he's given credit for and he has the weapons to work with. Him and Edwards could be nice value guys this season.

Eli - unfortunately no true #1 WR just yet.

The others, imo, I'm steering clear of. I wouldn't be shocked if each of the remaining didn't finish the year as a starter.

I think it's down to Eli & Orton.Garrard I agree is underrated, but they still dont have a true #1 WR. Sure Holt WAS a true #1, but with recent drop in production & his age are troublingI am not sure that holt was the answer. they need to draft a top WR in next years draft if they want Garrard to take the next step up in his development.Edwards is still on a terrible team.My money is on Eli. If he is truly as good as they say, he should be able to turn Nicks, Smith, or Hixon into a star. I think one of them is capable of stepping up. (maybe two of them, but probably just one) that is my bet.

I'm holding out hope for Campbell too. He ACTUALLY gets a 2nd year with an offensive system, is coming into his 4th season and didn't have an INT until week 9. He's not a high ceiling-guy, but I think he's a safe, high-floor guy. Makes an adequate backup.

David Garrard

Eli Manning

Chad Pennington

Jason Campbell

Shaun Hill

I don't like Orton at all. The division he plays in is very deceptively good in pass D. SD's defense was injured pretty badly last year but was top notch before. KC's secondary is an up and coming unit and are still weak vs the run and the Raiders have one of, if not the best CB in the NFL but are also very soft up the gut.

He didn't have a #1 last year and finished 11th. Adding Holt is definitely an upgrade over what they had. Drafting Dillard and Thomas is even better. I don't think anyone should be sleeping on Garrard. I think he's a much better play/value than Eli.
Edwards is still on a terrible team.
Maybe true, but Lee Evans, Josh Reed and Robert Royal vs. TO, Lee Evans and Shawn Nelson? Significant upgrade both from an NFL and fantasy standpoint. If the team's terrible again, you can be sure they'll be throwing the ball.

yet both Rivers and Cutler tore it up last year. no not saying orton in their class and hear what you're saying, but Orton IMO underrated. he is my pick with Edwards.

Give me

1. Edwards. The OL will be better this year. Peters was a sieve last year and the rest of the line will be better this year IMO. I like the no huddle also.

2. Flacco. Mason is a concern but I think he will be back or it will be Marshall/Boldin or at worst Harrison. They will find a replacement and he will improve. I agree with the Matt Ryan comment earlier

3. Orton. McDaniels likes to pass and his receivers are good. If Marshall goes, I am not as interested

4. Garrard-Okay guy and I think Holt will help but the team I just dont find exciting. I usually underrate him compared to others

5. Eli. I think the dropoff starts here. I think more Troy Aikman than fantasy relevant in the end. The weapons are not exciting and they will run, run and more run and win with D.

6. Penny. The dropoff to here is even more. I think the schedule was nice last year but it wont this year and you could see more playoff performances. He does not last the year. Henne will be starting as they wont smell the playoff race

7. Delhomme. ONly because he has Smith and that helps in the end. More than guys 4-5-6 have.

8. Bulger. I like Mark but his OL is terrible and outside of Jackson what weapons do they have. He has almost become gun shy now. He needs change of scenery to get his career back on path

Rest not even worth mentioning

I have heard a lot of positive things about Trent Edwards. He is obviously a very sharp guy and I think giving him the reins so that he can make audibles is a well deserved addition that will serve him/Bills well. He however, has **** Juron as his play caller and he has to be one of the most conservative play-callers in the game (ever??) How will he do with T.O? My biggest concern is the O-line. Several listings have the Bills as one of the worst O-lines with these no-name fatties trying to push the opposition around.

LT- Langston Walker

LG- Kirk Chambers

C- Geoff Hangartner

RG- Eric Wood

RT- Brad Butler

FB- Corey McIntyre

Buffalo gave up 38 sacks last season and sent Jason Peters to Philly. I like 1st round pick C Eric Wood out of Louisville, but it looks like the offensive line has regressed even from last year. Who is going to protect T. Edwards.

Eli Manning - I drafted Eli high last yr in many leagues after the SB, hes barely startable, even in large leagues... avoid

David Garrard - one of the better values for a late QB2 or an early QB3

Joe Flacco - avoid for now... bal won't be putting up big time pts and their WR1 is about to leave this yr or next... sell high

Trent Edwards - the OL is a mess, doesn't matter whoes playing WR if the QB isn't comfortable.

Kyle Orton - go get him if the $$ is right... he'll be passing a lot atleast.

Jason Campbell - finish in the below were I expected but this will be the 1st time he'll be in the same system for more than one yr... I expect a little improvement.

Shaun Hill - PASS

Marc Bulger - PASS

Jake Delhomme - Car has become a running team more so than ever.. expect a repeat of last yr

Chad Pennington - the best for last, Chad is a good QB. Hes smart, 10 - 15 yrs from now hes going to be a great coach if he chooses to go that way. Just under 3500 yds last yr, a lot of them dump offs that broke but its still impressive. Chad makes a good QB2 when healthy and you play him during good weather games.

1. Shaun Hill- put up 18 ppg last year and lost no one (erm bryant Johnson) added Crabtree and has two young receivers who could improve (Hill and Morgan) has little defense, plays in a division absolutely and totally devoid of defense but has some offensive weapons and has a RB who can add on 4-500 yards and a couple of TDs. 2. Orton- put up good numbers before his injury- could well get 900 yards receiving from his RBs, good receivers, good TE, no D. Marshall's participation is a question mark and would be a big blow if he is traded or isn't recovered properly from surgery (or if his contract #### means he drops an additional 10 balls). 3. Eli, Garrard, Pennington. They finished where they did because they started all 16 games, PPG were nothing special. 4. Campbell- nothing special but should be better than last year. Needs to hit Cooley in the ####### redzone and his TDs could pick up by 4-5. 5. Everyone else.
