Quentin Demps Cheap Shot (1 Viewer)

Seems fishy to me.

A blatant cheap shot 5 feet in front of the ref on a 38 yr old brittle QB that was extremely hot and the offending player is of relatively little value. But what leads me to this is that Demps, A ROOKIE, apparently wasn't pulled or chastised on the sideline. Surely if he was the FOX broadcast would have been all over it considering what had happened. But no sign of discipline is surprising and shocking.

Reid screams at his 10 yr vet kicker for kicking the ball out of bounds but doesn't address Demps for that???? Yes this is speculatory but something doesn't smell right with this.

It was on par with a cheap hit McMahon suffered to GB IIRC back in the 80s. Inexcusible and the player should have been ejected formt he game. Not sure what constitues an ejection but this was way way way after the play was over...this wasn't a guy hitting a QB 2 seconds after the release, this was pure intent to harm.

Of course Warner is probably bigger than Demps and laughed it off after it was over but it was still a major cheap shot.

I have been one of Andy Reid's biggest critics, but there is no way he calls a cheap shot on Warner. The team needed Demps as he played more reps on Defense than he had all season and he is our primary kick returner. I'm sure the play will be discussed at some point, but Reid may not have wanted to reem a rookie in the middle of a big game. After playing as long as akers has you would think that: A. He would make stupid mistakes and B. Being a veteran he can handle his reeming and keep his head straight to kick again.

As long as we're speculating, I think Demps had some indigestion and got the shakes and that was what caused that hit. Warner was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

One of the dumbest "plays" I've seen in a long time. No way Reid/Johnson called for this... kinda silly speculation.

Reid put a bounty on Warner because he thought Warner was hiding a plate of brownies in his jersey. HTH. :goodposting:

I doubt that Reid had anything to do with that cheap shot, but not yanking him from the game immediately is basically saying that he saw nothing wrong with what he did. A coach with real leadership, and who has full control over a team, would never not immediately discipline a player for that much of a cheap shot.

After the hit, Aikmen was going on about how they can't rattle a vetern like Warner. The next pass Warner throws is just about intercepted by the safety Mikel (Sp?) - it manages to slide throw his hands and is almost caught by Boldin. Definitely a cheap shot but a cheap shot with a purpose.

Interesting. You saw a near interception. I saw a great matchup with Boldin in 1:1 coverage on the outside and Warner taking a shot. I don't see how you can say Warner was rattled based upon that throw.

It is NFL Football.

Something that all NFL players learn very early is to protect yourself at all times when on the field. Warner let his guard down and bam.

That being said it was cheap.

You have got to be kidding."Warner let his guard down and bam."Total cheap shot. Demps should have been ejected. His fine should be much larger than Clark's from the Pittsburg game.

Watching yesterday's Eagles/Cardinals game as a neutral observer, I quickly found myself rooting for the Cards after Demps' cheap shot on Kurt Warner. Then, to my shock and surprise, one of the studio announcers defends the play with something along the line of "anything to get an edge".

At best, this was just a boneheaded play that allowed the Cardinals to tack on more points at the end of the first half. However, it appeared to be much more malicious. A major cheap shot at a defenseless player. It wasn't just a late hit. It was like Demps forgot to do something so he smacked Warner. This was an apparent attempt to injure and Demps should have been tossed.

Who was the guy in the studio who made the comment about "anything to get an edge is OK"?

I think it's too difficult to speculate if it was called by someone else (whether a coach or a veteran player). The real problem I had with the play was Demps not getting ejected. You HAVE to eject a player in that situation. No ifs, ands, or buts.

Blatant, purposeful cheap shots shouldn't be tolerated. Period. I love great hits, but not that way.

Very cheap shot. I was also surprised that there wasn't the outrage there should have been. I was at the game and missed the play - we saw the flag but not the penalty. Seeing it later on TV and hearing the announcers pretty much shrug it off was frustrating. If Warner would have been hurt on that play they would have made a big deal. But why does someone have to get hurt for a cheap shot to be recognized as such?

It's interesting today that no one is really talking about it.

who was the whiny eagles player on the last play of the game that laid a clothesline on the cardinals player...

guy should be suspended the first 4 games next season...

I hear you. When does a QB get hit like that? The Eagles were getting toasted by Warner and Co. and this was an attempt to knock him out of the game.
