I've been doing an auction for 6-7 years now.

When we did a draft before that we would use a player value sheet from a magazine with a salary cap.

Do leagues still do this?

My only salary cap league is auction. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me to do it any other way with a cap. The only place we use a draft there is we have an NFL-style rookie draft. Salaries are set based on an average of a range of vets at the position, and drop each round.
