Question for those watching Steelers game yesterday (1 Viewer)

I didn't get to see any of the early games yesterday due to being at my daughter's soccr tournament.

I was following the games on my iphone.

It seemed like Rashard Mendenhall was on fire early, as he had a touchdown and great halftime yardage. He only had a few carries in teh second half when Pittsburgh should have been pounding teh ball to preserve their lead.

What happened that made them turn away from Mendenhall? Did the running game become ineffective? Did he get nicked up? Bad coaching?

OC Bruce Arians threw out a mea culpa after the game: "I got a little greedy." Furthermore, Mendenhall's 6 carries in the 2nd half were for 12 yards. If you go through the play-byplay at NFL.com, you'll get an idea of what happened. The Steelers were getting in 3rd and long situations, which brings MMoore out on the field. They weren't converting thos 3rd and longs, and gave up a few sacks. Here's Mendenhall's production in the second half:

R.Mendenhall left end to PIT 40 for 1 yard

R.Mendenhall right tackle to PIT 21 for -1 yards

R.Mendenhall left end to PIT 44 for 11 yards

R.Mendenhall right tackle to PIT 34 for -5 yards

R.Mendenhall left tackle to PIT 27 for 8 yards

R.Mendenhall left tackle to PIT 25 for -2 yards

So the running game did become ineffective...the Lions defensive tightened up, and Arians aired it out a bit more.

That first bolded run really made his limited second half carries look ineffective. For the record, on that attempt, the defender was wrapping him up by the neck of his jersey at about the same moment Ben was handing him the ball. Jim Brown would have lost five on that run.On the other hand, on the second bolded run, he ran straight into his own lineman's ### and fell down.

For those of you that watched the game...

Did he look as explosive as last week?

Did the line seem to block well again?

Did he miss any blocks or have any mental errors?

Parker expected back in week 6 - Based on his two weeks of positive service is he a hold or move?
Mendenhall has looked better in his two starts than Parker did in his starts. I think Parker gets his starting job back but Mendenhall is here to stay and is going to get significant carries. If FWP struggles when he returns Mendenhall will likley get the starting job for good.In dynasty/keeper leagues Mendenhall is definitely a hold. In redraft leagues I would definitely float Mendenhall to see what you can get though I wouldn't sell low...
