Question re: Oakland-Pittsburgh Game (1 Viewer)

Oakland won with 98 yards total offense.Anybody know when this happened last? Has a team ever won before with <100 yards total offense?
I don't know when this last happened, but I recall the Steelers holding the Texans to 47 total yards in 2002 and still managing to lose 24-6. Total yards were 422-47 that day. Must be a Pittsburgh specialty.

Its more impressive how the Steelers had 360 yards of offense but only 13 points, or 27.69 yards per point, which is beyond awful. Why did that happen?

+ A long drive from the PIT 41 bogs down in the red zone and they only get a FG.

+ A long drive from the PIT 12 to the OAK 36 ends in an INT.

+ A long drive from the PIT 23 to the OAK end zone results in a 100-yard interception return for a Raider TD.

+ FINALLY a long drive from the PIT 46 ends in a Steeler TD.

+ A drive from the OAK 40 to the OAK 3 ends in a turnover on downs.

4 trips to the red zone. They get only 10 points.

First and goal from the one. Down 7. Late in the 4th quarter. No points. Game over. These turnovers are the common theme in just about every one of their losses this year. If it's not Ben, it's the special teams or running backs.

Here are some games for you to chew on:Jacksonville/St. Louis, 1996: Jaguars scored 14 points on 538 yards (38.42 YPP)Baltimore/Indianapolis, 2005: Ravens scored 7 points on 401 yards (57.29 YPP)Pittsburgh/Cincinnati, 1995: Steelers scored 9 points on 468 yards (52 YPP)Cincinnati/Carolina, 1999: Bengals scored 3 points on 372 yards (124 YPP)And the Lions totalled 332 and 334 yards in two different shutouts in 2001.

Well the 1995 Steelers game jumps out at me. That team scored over 400 points that year. That was the most points by any Cowher team ever. The rest of those were poor offenses for the most part.

That Jaguars team scored 30 points in consecutive road playoff games.

1st time in Raiders history this has happened.I can't wait to see next weeks post(s) on how the Raiders pass D isn't really that good. This time the angle will be the yards they allowed this week. Forget the 4 interceptions, 2 for touchdowns. Remember as well 155 yards of the Steelers came in the last 3 drives on prevent D and 47 of those yards where on 1 hail mary play to end the game. I'm not even begining to say the Raiders are great, but as I pointed out with the seasons stats two weeks ago, (in what is becoing the weekly "why do the sorry Raiders pass defense stats look so good, it must be due to everyone running through them" post. As long as the Raiders offense isn't putting the defense on a 50 yard field all day, the Defense is better then average against the run (only 4 rushing TD's allowed this season) and top 5 against the pass. Of course if the run D was as horrible as everyone blindly thinks by the stats, the Steelers vaunted O-line and running game would have gained more the 89 yards today. Once again, the offense tried to lose the game by putting the D on the field for 35+ minutes (this is a big probelm, as the Raiders have the worst TOP in the league). This time though, the field wasn't 50 yards or less for the opponent all day and the "only look good in stats" Raiders pass D scored 2 TD's and gained 125 yards off INT's. It didn't hurt to only have 5 penalties for 45 yards to the Steelers 6 for 70 yards.Deal with it Steeler fans, you had a great year last year and a well deserved championship. Your team just got beat in a very physical game pretty much by the Raiders defense alone. No excuses. :banned:

Despite what you see in ever-increasing prevalence in the Shark Pool, acknowledging the accomplishments of other teams is still permitted. Some people even respect that approach. Belittling other teams doesn't really make your favorite team better -- it just makes you look like a poor sport.

LOL.... a poor sport.... good one.I have been a Raiders fan for going on 30 years, gimme a break. I am and will always be a fan, but never a poor sport. I will never call and harass my friends that are *insert team here* fans because I do not like when it is done to me. IMO, it's rude. Trust me, living in PA there are plenty of Steeler fans, especially after they won last year's Superbowl. And then don't forget about the Eagles...

I watched last year's Superbowl, like most of you here did. I refuse to go there...

That is why I said in my post:

No, I am not belittling the losing team. I just don't have much respect for Ben after the biking without a helmet thing (not legal in his case) and with an expired learner's permit to boot (not legal). Pretty dumb if you ask me. If you can't make good decisions in your personal life, how on earth can a QB make good ones on the field? A good QB in this league really does have to be smart nowadays...Blackhole got it right. The Steelers got beat tonight by the Raiders D, simple as that. The Raiders O-line, however, pretty much stinks.

As far as acknowledging the accomplishments of other teams? I have always done that, "thankyouverymuch". The Steelers didn't really do much for acknowledgments until late in the second half, tho.

JMO.....

Oh BTW, one more thing.

I know how this board works. I know that a good O-line would make my team better. I have been here since cheatsheets and truly miss not having all the added junk that this board that seems to accumulate.

One last thing. A quote from another post... maybe childish, but appropriate, IMO ;)
