If/When Ronnie Brown or Williams gets tackled behind the line of scrimmage on a play where they are lined up as QB, does the NFL credit a sack?

While watching the game last night I thought there was a at least a play or two during the game where one of the 2 RBs were tackled behind the line and no sacks were credited.

IIRC, only a play designed and executed as a potential pass play counts as a sack. If a regular QB starts to run as a designed run play it's just a rushing attempt. A kneel down is the perfect example. No one gets credit for a sack on a kneel down.

:goodposting:The stat-keepers have to determine if it is a pass play or not before determining whether a sack should be awarded. For example, week 1 against the Giants, Randle El took an end around and was clearly looking to pass. He didn't pass and was tackled for a loss. It was counted as a sack. Any time a QB drops back to pass and then scrambles, it will be a sack situation. Any time there is clearly no intent to pass, it will not be a sack.
