questions about keeper strategy (1 Viewer)

My league is turning into a 2 player keeper league based on our rosters from last year.

My question, without mentioning any players names, is should you try to keep your 2 best players period even though it would cost a couple of early round picks,, or do a kind of VBD deal and keep starters that wouldn't cost much, like a very late round pick?

Any thoughts appreciated!

Keep guys who are cheaper than their ADP.

something like Brady for a 4th, A. Peterson for a 3rd, Housh for a 5th. even some obvious ones like LT for a 1st.

Keep the best values.

It helps to know what your opponents are thinking as well. Are all the good RBs being kept, mid round WRs, etc?

Most people are keeping RB's. They are all RB crazy. I have the oppurtunity to keep a QB who in my opinion is in the 6-10 range, and a consensus top 4-8 range reciever for my last 2 picks in a 20 round draft. The value is amazing but missing out on rbs is going to hurt.

I wouldn't keep a QB unless he was top 4-5, especially with the overall lack of RBs.The WR looks like a good deal (unless its Roddy White, than, I may rethink my keepers)

Fins, I'm in the same boat as you and possibly the same league since I'm in a keeper league where we are allowed to keep two players that were drafted after last year's round two and each player that you keep counts for the round before they were drafted the prior year.

If you're in my league then you'll know it by my keeper options.

I can take two of the following players in my 12 team keeper league:

ADP 3rd round

Braylon Edward 5th round

Ben Roethlisberger 9th round

Brandon Marshall 11th round

My strategy is going to be to take ADP in round 3 for obvious reasons and then I'm going to take Braylon Edwards in round 5.

Even though Brandon Marshall would be a better overall value in round 11 and far surpass his average draft position I feel I have no other choice for this reason. Since teams can only begin to keep players starting with last years round 3, a large number of WR1's will be kept since that's where they drafted last year. If everyone keeps their third round WR1 from last year then if I pass on Braylon Edwards and take Brandon Marshall, there won't be any WR1's to take this year even if I want to draft them in this year's round 1.

I fully expect teams to keep Owens, Wayne, AJ, Moss, Colston, Fitzgerald, Chad and TJ.

I'd love to hear any Keeper League strategies if there is such a thing.
