Questions for ESPN's Adam Schefter (1 Viewer)

ESPN's Adam Schefter has been a friend of Footballguys for a long time. We've been a fan and friend of Adam's for even longer. From his time in Denver to the NFL Network now to ESPN.

I'm going to do an interview with Adam in the next few days and thought I'd throw out here the opportunity for you guys to offer some questions for Adam. He's as plugged in as anyone I know of in the NFL.

Just list them here in this thread.

Thanks.

J

Brandon Marshall: How to sum up? Hmmm.....

Is "WTF" too harsh? No, I think I'm going to stick with "WTF?"

Thanks in advance for your insight.

Who was the biggest off-season acquisition in his opinion? And how will that acquisition help said team more than any other acquisition.

Adam...when will ESPN stop beating topics to death (ie Brett Favre)

Adam, will you or anybody have the balls to tell Berman that his nicknames for every player in the league hasn't been amusing for 10+ years and his schtick is more annoying that Stuart Scott's wandering eye

Roger has come down hard on players behaving poorly, how has this changed how the NFL front offices evaluate players?

With a number of teams needing a WR, especially the Ravens now, and several interesting WR options available (from trading for a WR like Boldin or Marshall or signing a free agent like Jones or Toomer), what moves do you think will happen between now and the start of the season?

Have you seen any examples of the bad economy affecting a team's ability to compete in the near to middle term? Or are most of the layoffs of office staff for teams just letting unimportant people go? Thanks!

Second one, if it's allowed:

How does the increasing immediacy of media, like twitter and facebook, make your job harder? Or does it make your job easier?

Please Joe, I would love to hear Adams take on the Lions situation.

Have The Detroit Lions FINALLY made the right HC hire with Jim Schwartz??

And does Matt Stafford have the makings of a franchise QB.

Adam, you have a good pulse on the Broncos from your days covering the team. I have a few questions that fantasy footballers are trying to figure out.

How many pass attempts do you expect for Orton? How bad does he have to play for Simms to see action?

Will Moreno get enough carries to be the primary back or will he be splitting time with Buckhalter and Jordan? Who gets the goal line carries?

Do you expect Royal to take another step in his development?

One question...in four parts.

Will a) Detroit, b) St. Louis, c) Kansas City, and d) Cleveland be the worst team in the NFL?

Why or why not?

Adam,

Which personal trait or traits of a successful sports reporter are most important? Intelligence, tenacity, sense of humor, ability to network/maintain contacts etc. -> in order to do what you do, and succeed as you have, what has helped you get over the top both in professional terms and also in terms of relating to the players, agents, and coaches in the NFL?

Thanks,

Mark Wimer

I have 2 questions for Adam.

1. How short a leash is Jason Campbell and his coach on?

2. What potential 2010 draft college players are GMs and NFL people excited about?

Adding on here ...how is Derrick Mason's shoulder and does he see him continuing to lead this corp and have a decent year?

How serious is the potential for a work stoppage or uncapped year in the near future?

If a resolution is not reached and we have an uncapped year, will the NFL ever be able to go back to a salary cap system?

If the NFL goes uncapped, what is the chance we have teams trying to "buy championships" ala the Yankees in MLB (with no success  ?

THANKS!

He retired today..........RC94 was referring to that when asking his question regarding possible WR moves prior to the beginning of the season./end hijack

I didn't know we were submitting cover letters here....

I like that one.

I'll try to be a little less sarcastic here.Adam,Are you concerned that moving over to ESPN will lessen some of your well earned credibility just because of your association with what many here believe to be a sports soap opera network? How will you avoid that perception? Are you worried that you'll get sucked into the ESPN propaganda machine? Thanks in advance for your reply,Steve

Adam:

What's the real story with Hasselbeck's back, and do you think that the team will return to form for the 09/10 season? If you have time please kill the rumors about Vick coming to Seattle.

Thanks

Have there been any major changes in how people deal with him after leaving the NFL Network and going to ESPN?
This is a great question relating to how people in the league deal with him....and as a follow-up, does he have the same, less, or more freedom to pursue stories and how they are expressed now with ESPN as he previously had with the NFL Network?

:goodposting: Oh, please ask him this, heck, ask both questions! Their "insider" reporting (like Ed Werder) is absolutely horrible. It is literally, throwing stuff on the wall and trying to see what sticks. And not only is Berman a joke, but Keyshawn. I hope that Schefter sticks to his guns and isn't afraid to quote FACTS to back his stories when the likes of Chris Carter and Meryl Hoge don't agree.

really curious about how he is treated by his contacts and sources after leaving NFL network, but since i have not seen anyone try and step worth into his shoes back at the NFLN i am thinking he is ok. still very interested though.

Adam,

how are things progressing with the jets and the contract negotiations with thomas jones, and leon washington. also what are their plans for shonn greene and how has he performed so far in mini camps.

josh.

1. Will Brandon Marshall hold out or be traded? If so, where?

2. Will Vick or Plax play this year?

3. Which Giants WR will have the most receptions and yards?

4. Who will get more carries: Addai or Brown?

5. How will Kyle Orton do?

6. Will Kurt Warner be healthy for the whole season?

Where does Mike Vick end up and will he play this year?

2007 first round DEs - Gaines Adams, Jamaal Anderson, Adam Carriker and Jarvis Moss have less than 20 career sacks combined - is it too early to call these guys busts?

Following the retirement of Derrick Mason, what other "big names" do you see retiring in the next 1-2 years?

what's your take on Ronnie brown and the rest of the dolphins offense this year. IS parcells still holding out hope that some WR becomes available in training camp?

Please Joe, I would love to hear Adams take on the Lions situation.

Have The Detroit Lions FINALLY made the right HC hire with Jim Schwartz??

And does Matt Stafford have the makings of a franchise QB.
Schwartzie will tighten up that D, allowing the Lions to "be IN more" games this year---while Calvin will continue to be a beast, I love Kevin Smith this seasonAdam...do you see Det anywhere near 6 W's this year, putting possibly the likes of Oakland, KC or Cleveland vying for the #1 pick?

if not any of those 3, who do you see as "being off" this year, staring a top 5 pick in the eye?

Hey Joe, how about changing Adam's affiliation on the FBGs home page. It still says he's with NFL Network.

Lets be reasonable here. Berman at least knows what division Baltimore and Jacksonville play in.Oh wait they're not the same?

What's Adam's take on how well Cutler will do with the Bears?
I second this one, but as an extension, I would like to know what the word is from insiders on who has the inside track on being the biggest beneficiary, especially in the WR corps. Olsen is a likely candidate, but we all know Cutler likes to look downfield first and will not be content with dump offs to Forte like the Bears did a lot of last year. Also, on the Cutler front, I'd like to hear if he has any insight as to how league people look at Cutler. In Denver, it is fairly popular to bash him as an immature head case, but I think that is way overblown because of the emotional sting from him wanting out.

Is he a fortune teller or a reporter?

With LT crossing the 30 year mark this Summer, are you hearing anything regarding LT's past injuries lingering?

Is it your opinion that Anquan Boldin will be an Arizona Cardinal come the start of the season? Has his position changed with the firing of Rosenhaus?

How does JaMarcus Russell look and do you believe he can possibly hold off the newly acquired Jeff Garcia?

I don't think this is being addressed nearly enough, and I'd definitely like to hear his take on this. Word is both sides are amassing war chests and are hunkering down for a work stoppage. Charlie Batch addressed the rookie symposium and told the players there was "a 100% chance" of a lockout in 2011, although the players union is saying any work stoppage would be on the part of the owners. Should we as fans start worrying?

does anyone outside of the raider organization(or in it) have faith in jamarcus russell to be a viable NFL qb? he finished strong last year, what's the inside buzz going into this season?

Adam,

Can you weigh in on the Hickory vs. Fruit Wood debate for smoking meats?

Oh and ask him if you can name a dish after him at the Porketeria. Maybe Adam Schefter's Rib?
