Quick question for JAX homers. (1 Viewer)

I haven't seen a Jacksonville game this year and I can't seem to find the answer to this at other places on online: Is Maurice Jones-Drew getting the goalline carries, or is he sharing those with Fred Taylor? TIA.

so, what's the answer? I haven't watched much of them this season either.

Judging by the "situational" stats I looked at, it looks as if the goalline carries are being split between them. This is collapsed across all the games so far, so it's possible one may be seeing more goalline work than the other in recent games. This is a great free stats site - thanks for pointing it out. To any J-ville people with insight - I'd still like your take on it.

Fred Taylor gets the majority of playing time on the field. But deep in the red zone, however, it seems that Drew is getting the bulk of the snaps. Some of that has to do with the fact that he is a better receiver than Fred.

as long as we're asking Jax homers questions, can anyone enlighten me as to what happened to Reggie Williams. Guy was one of the hottest WR in the league the first few weeks of the season but is completely off the grid now. What has changed?

He's a hard player to figure out. Really up and down with him and not alot of in between. I think earlier this year, the staff had finally figured out the best way to utilize him- which is a slant catching/RAC opportunity guy. At the beginning of the season, I happen to think that he was one of the major players the coaching staff focused on getting involved. But with the switch to Garrard, I think that getting Reggie Williams more involved has sort of taken a backseat to the other happenings going on with the offense. He has also dropped alot of passes lately. They want to keep him involved, as evidenced by the WR reverse they seem to run every game. Also, Jimmy Smith was Garrards favorite target and safety net. If things broke down, generally Garrard would look for 82 and if he wasn't open, then he'd tuck it and run. However, through the two games that he's played, you can see that he's going through his progressions more and looking for alternate receivers. With Jimmy Smith no longer there, it's difficult see who his favorite target is. As of last game, it was Ernest Wilford in the red zone. IMO, I happen think that if Matt Jones could stay healthy, then he's got a good shot at becoming Garrards favorite target.
